As well as Ramsey getting some minutes, I would like to see Chukwuemeka and Kessler on the bench and making their debuts if circumstances allow. If Barkley can't contribute in this one, he may have to get used to collecting splinters. I assume we're not expecting Jack back yet.

Martinez/Heaton, Elmohamady, Konsa, Mings, Targett, Nakamba, McGinn, Barkley, Traore, Watkins, El Ghazi.

Subs - Davis, Heaton/Steer, Ramsey, Chukwuemeka, Sanson, Luiz, Trezeguet, Kessler, Engels.

Sheffield Utd vs Aston Villa pre match thread - Wed, March 3rd - 6pm

A great chance over the next few games to push on for a Europa spot starting at Sheff Utd. They are hopeless but desperate now so we will still need a very professional, committed display to come away with the win. I expect Jack to still be missing and possibly a rare sighting of the lesser spotted Tom Heaton for Emi. I would actually rest SJM for this in favour of Sanson. Otherwise unchanged.

I’ll go for a 2-0 win - Watkins and AEG

I'd leave the team exactly as it is for this one. We shouldn't come under too much pressure from Sheff U, so it would be nice to reward Ramsey for a good display with a second consecutive start, and also try to get Traore to be a bit more consistent.

I think I'd agree with Risso, though I'd give Barkley a subs appearance on precisely 75 minutes for him to then score a hat-trick (given that's when he thinks he's at his most dangerous!)

Our house may be a little tense.

I'd like a 0-3 scoreline. Watkins, AEG and McGinn from 30 yards.

I'd go with the same eleven on the basis that Jack still isn't fit and Martinez is OK to play.

Thought Liverpool were pretty ordinary yesterday but still could easily have scored 6 or 7.

Sheff U may nick one but I'd fancy us to nick more than one.

2-1 to Villa.

There's 2 Pre-Match threads now.

Ta. Merged. Some poll votes will need to be redone as they can only carry over from one thread and do not get combined as the posts do.

I reckon we'll absolutely batter these mugs, 4-0. They looked gone last night, their heart isn't in it any more, can see them getting some humpings between now and the end of the season.

And I for one won't be shedding my snowflake, leftie tears for Chris.

I don't like it when we're extremely confident or pessimistic. See the predictions of massive defeats on Saturday. This has the hallmarks of one of those games. If we're professional and hardworking our quality should see us through, however, any complacency and they can do some damage. The reverse fixture was tricky.

I'm nervous.

Same approach as against Leeds should see the job done. It wont be easy as Sheff Utd always compete even though their fate is sealed.

Like to see Sanson start to freshen it again as we have the sausage dogs at the weekend . Maybe Bertie rested and bring on for 20 mins as I thought SJM looked better against Leeds .
