Aston Villa v Leicester City - Pre Match Thread. Sunday 2.05pm.

I was on an unbeaten run before I was hijacked :-).

I know it is early but I will say 2-1 to us and a nervy win.  It could well be a repeat of the 1-4 last season if Saturday's performance is anything to go by.  We will need to sit deep for this one to stop Mr Vardy and co attacking behind.

The team selection is a real test for Smith, get it right and we have a chance.

I can see a L on this one, they are in great form and we aren't.

Watched their game against Liverpool on Saturday and they were second best for 70 minutes. Liverpool didn't give them any time on the ball so Maddison, Tielemans and Barnes couldn't get into the game.

I'm not sure that we have the midfield that can stop a team from playing. Grealish, Traore and Barkley offer little in protection so that falls to McGinn and Luiz.

The forward players have got to improve hugely from the Brighton game and if they do we can get a result.

Good that Leicester are playing in Prague on Thursday night too.

2-2.

On current form they should smash us out of sight, but I cling to the hope that we've played well against the better teams, including beating these last time.

Elmo, Trez, Sanson and Ramsay in for Cash, Traore, McGinn and Barkley would be my choice. However, there's no way we're making 4 changes.

So I think it'll be the enforced change and then Trez in on the right, Traore where Barkley has been playing and that'll be it. Sanson on for McGinn after an hour.

Going to be a huge team selection for Smith. I think he simply has to show some authority and faith in the squad. If he doesn't then I don't think it will go down well in the dressing room.

A couple of the big names/asses to be dropped. With Cash out, I firmly expect Trez will come in and support Elmo on the right. I don't think he will drop both Barkley and McGinn so I suspect Rosco will be  one to sit it out. Sanson or Ramsey to come in.

We need a real freshen up of the midfield in a game that will require much higher energy levels than we’ve shown recently.

They are in form and very good away from home. We need to be at our best and we haven't been for a good while. Probably Palace game

It's my 40th birthday on Sunday.  I'm sure the Villa will find a way of royally messing it up!

I wouldn't be surprised if we put in another poor home performance against these, 1-3.

I doubt they'll be doubling up on Jack like Brighton did so we will have something of a threat going forward.  can't see us being as poor as on Saturday either.
