The run of results we have had against this lot since the Premier League started defies all logic, even taking into account us being hamstrung by Doug Ellis for much of that time.  It will all swing in our favour again eventually but when you see dodgy officiating and game-changing decisions being repeated every time the two clubs meet, you can't help but feel bemused by it all.
It's beyond bizarre, our results against these. We have one win against these this century. One. Have a look on 11v11 to see if you can think of any other club with such a shit record against them. There's so few. When clubs like Crystal Palace have won two of the last three meetings. Bournemouth beat them twice, and they were only in the same division for five bastard seasons! It's beyond the wit of man to explain it.

A non-league team would have a better record against them in that timeframe, I'm sure of it.  It's bonkers.

The penalty this year was debatable (not that they debated it for long). It's memories of last year which give me an urge to burn things.

If Grealish ever tries to win a penalty like that, you'll hear Neville screaming "diver" from space.

This is why I always argue that Grealish rarely dives.

Admittedly he goes down easily due to mistimed challenges but apart from the blatant one recently he doesn't just go down.
Hence why he rarely gets penalties compared to Free kicks as defenders don't throw out a leg for him to go over in the box as much.

I am hugely encouraged by our progress so far this season but our record against Manchester United is truly appalling. i might have dreamt this but I think we have only won once in over 30 games.

You did dream it, it's actually one win in 43 games.

Did anybody watch that game and think we didn't compete? Didnt look dangerous? That we didn't play really good football?

Nobody on our side of the fence can say we weren't very impressive.
United's reaction at the end of the game said it all.

We're seriously back in business.

Proud of our lads we didn't deserve to lose that was never a penalty.

PL era, we've won 3 out of 51, one win in every 17. Of all the clubs that have played them 17 or more times, the only club as proportionately shit as us against them is Coventry, with one win in 18.

Certainly didn’t have that feeling I usually  have that we seemed to play well, but United probably had another gear if we troubled them. They needed that penalty.

Clear pen for me. Luiz knocks his leg which causes him to trips. Certainly not a clear and obvious error, again, for me. I respect that we all see it differently.

Yeah but you always like the attention.

What are you on about? If, by “attention” you mean I like to participate and talk about my favorite football team, Aston Villa, and discuss it with others like everybody else on this forum, then I guess I like the “attention.” 🙄

If the majority had said it was a clear penalty, you would have said the opposite.

Exactly so. They must be delighted with their first trophy of the season too. Their celebrations on the pitch must have continued long into the night.

No need for that is there? Even Dean Smith said he thought it was a penalty on first viewing.

...and that is exactly what I thought var was for. To overturn incorrect 1st viewings of referees, but it's failing badly.

After watching the replays, the only debate, is did Pogba dive intentionally?

It looks like he threw himself to me.

No, in theory it’s to overturn obvious and clear mistakes. Which would be fair enough if it was consistent. But was our penalty award against Brighton clear and obvious?
