Michael Oliver is up there along with the likes of Kevin Friend,Johnathan Moss and the biggest prick of all Phil Dowd .They seem to go out of their way to give decisions against the Villa .I have watched videos of that so called penalty and no way is that given unless you are Man Utd or Liverpool  .In the last world cup not one English referee was selected ,hardly surprising when you see some of the mistakes they make week in week out

We don’t know if this goes on or not but behind the scenes I’d be asking the question of the FA about both the persistent fouling and the penalty incident. If nothing else it puts a marker down. If the decision was correct and that is a penalty these days then we should do the same thing. No point in moaning after the fact.

I must admit I’m old school, I still detest the Michael Owen penalty of knocking the ball past the keeper then dragging your heels into his body as he tries to pull out of the challenge.

The run of results we have had against this lot since the Premier League started defies all logic, even taking into account us being hamstrung by Doug Ellis for much of that time.  It will all swing in our favour again eventually but when you see dodgy officiating and game-changing decisions being repeated every time the two clubs meet, you can't help but feel bemused by it all.

I was convinced last night there was no contact from Douglas but this angle shows that there was.

But as people on here did say its Pogba kicking Luiz as his foot is planted on the floor.

Mings elbow on Pogba was far more of a penalty....lucky enough to get away with that one to be honest. Elbow very high and swinging

Didn't think it was penalty, but Doug didn't need to make the challenge, there were already 2 Villa players covering Pogba's run.

Bigger picture, last night's game showed why we now have a quality team, went toe to toe with an United team, who are now joint top, and deserved a point. The reaction of the United players at the end, showed they knew they've been in a tough game. Would go for Matty Cash as MOM, thought he was superb, and of course Jack as well.

It’s a complete accident but just reflects the threshold for a penalty has never been lower than it is now. That would have been seen as an unintentional coming together not so long ago.

A free shot from 12 yards is completely disproportionate to the offence these days.

Rubbish, elbow my arse. He only catches him because he bumps into Targett on the other side.

As an aside, are indirect free kicks in (or out) of the box still a thing?

I am amazed that anyone can view kicking the back of an opponents calf and falling over as a legitimate reason for a penalty. Yes there was contact but it was instigated by Pogba in order to con the ref.

It's beyond bizarre, our results against these. We have one win against these this century. One. Have a look on 11v11 to see if you can think of any other club with such a shit record against them. There's so few. When clubs like Crystal Palace have won two of the last three meetings. Bournemouth beat them twice, and they were only in the same division for five bastard seasons! It's beyond the wit of man to explain it.

His elbow was not swinging at all.

If Grealish ever tries to win a penalty like that, you'll hear Neville screaming "diver" from space.

Did anybody watch that game and think we didn't compete? Didnt look dangerous? That we didn't play really good football?
