Disappointed to be honest because I didn't think Man Utd were really that great. They've beaten us by two fortunate goals and it's another game we defiantly should have got something out of. We're heading in the right direction though which is the main thing.

Anybody remember a few years ago when manure not winning was deemed harmful for the pl “brand”? Is VAR there not to make the game fairer but to add to the drama on skyazonbt ?
And that was not a clear penalty. That touch on Tom daly leading to the Norman wisdom trip was comical. The bin dippers have nothing to fear.

On the penalty, my initial reaction was it was one, and I still think that. Luiz was too close, Pogba had edged ahead of him, he was taking a huge chance. As for using var, on this occasion I don't think there was any better place to judge it from than the referee's viewpoint in real time.

Spot on for me.

I thought it was in real time, and when I saw the replay. As you say, Doug got the wrong side, had arms on him and clipped his leg. He made the most of it but that’s what good players do.

It was one of those that you're pissed off if it goes against you, and sure it's a penalty if given for you. It was soft, but there wasn't much in the replay that was going to get it overturned.  You'd think the players would have learned by now not to do anything like that at Old Trafford.

Chelsea was a tougher game and we got a deserved point.
I never thought I could hate more the Plastics but after last night all I can say is they've got the fans they deserve. Shame the media had written their headlines before  a ball was kicked. Man Utd challenging Liverpool for the title? Not a f*****g chance.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Liverpool are nothing special either. We’re probably two players and good luck with injuries away from challenging them for the title ourselves.

Yes. From a poxy throw in as well, not like they’d stretched us on the break or anything.

Luiz shouldn't be grappling with him in the box anyway, got too tight and got done. Still has quite a bit to learn before becoming a top class holding midfielder.

In the cold light of day some general observations:

I don’t blame the ref for giving the penalty, I thought it was a penalty. However, on the first replay, that is the first replay my ten year old son shouts out that Pogba trips himself up. If he can see that straight away it indicates that those monitoring the VAR are either incompetent or corrupt or both.

Moving aside from the penalty. I thought we played well but as a few others have said I don’t want us to be plucky losers. We created virtually nothing in the first half, we stepped it up second half, were largely the better team, but missed our big opportunities. Once he beat Maguire to the ball mings has to get that header on target. Likewise with Ollie, the second chance he had when he directed his header over, that’s a few times he’s done that this season, he has to at least make the keeper make a save.

A few posters have said we’re missing something in the final 3rd, I agree, but I think we have that player in barckley. I think he’s probably better than grealish specifically in that ten role, or maybe betters the wrong word, the way he can link up with grealish from the ten role with grealish on the left, is far more potent, than the current el Ghazi and grealish combination. It is also noticeable that Targett overlaps less when barckleys not playing. Out of the five summer signings he was the marquee signing really that helps to take us up a level and we need to get him back.

On the forward line, Traore is an upgrade skill wise that the Trez or el Ghazi of this time last year, but he does leave cash exposed and I wouldn’t really have a problem with him being the one to drop to the bench for barckley. El Ghazi is an upgrade on the el Ghazi of last year and played ok last night, it’s a toss up for me with him on the right with his goal threat and Trez and his work rate.
Watkins is a very good player, who needs a tap in, I thought there was a couple of occasions last night when he lost the ball too easily, maybe fatigue.

Finally sky were abysmal in their coverage, totally disrespectful all the way through and basically doing a tapping up job on grealish for man Utd. Despite losing to them last night, I think that Man Utd site is fairly average. Take Rashford, Pogba and Fernandes our and there top ten at best, I know you  could say that about taking 3 good players out of any team, but most clubs don’t have the undeserved hype that they do. There is no way that team will finish above Liverpool or Man City, and to be honest from what I e seen so far I’d expect spurs and Chelsea to finish above them and hopefully us as well.
All in all I’m gutted to lose last night and a tough run of fixtures in January will probably end up giving us a clearer indication of where we’re going to finish this year. But apart from the odd blip so far so good.

Got too tight and was behind him as well, but other than that he was superb generally, I don’t think he’s got far to go at all.

It's just so bloody infuriating losing to another shit penalty.  I'd almost prefer a sound 4-0 beating with Fernandes and Rashford tearing us apart, to another close game where a Mings fuck up and a dodgy penalty do for us.

As I said I think the lack of yellow cards bothers me more than the pen.
