Disappointed to lose to those bastards yet again. Think we merited a point. Re the penalty, we'd want it the other way round so I can see why it was given.

I think this clearly shows the trip on himself.

Lost to Man Utd's inevitable penalty but thought we were pretty good and the only real difference between us was a dodgy decision.

Couple of weeks until the next game so give those players that need a rest one for the Liverpool game and get back to winning ways against Spurs.

Luiz touched him and that is enough for a foul to be given these days. Jack gets enough of those sorts of fouls. But we matched one of the best teams in the country playing at the top of their game and we should be pleased with that. Watkins needs support though.

Not having a go mate, but watching that video above, when and where exactly does Luiz touch him?

As you can probably tell, I'm still raging about it!!  That said, apart from the first 10-15 minutes, I thought we more than matched them and even took the game to them at times.

Found myself thinking during the second half that I'm not sure how many of their players I would take over ours at the moment, particularly in defence and midfield.  Think that and being so disappointed at losing is testament to how far we have come this season, but do feel we need more quality in the final third of we are genuinely going to mix it at that kind of level.

One note is that our defending in the wide areas is becoming a bit of an issue, particularly on our right side where Traore keeps getting caught.

As I wrote in my previous post, I'm completely perplexed by the penalty decision. However, if it was the correct interpretation of the rules, then this BTL comment from The Guardian match report makes sense to me:

Quote from: CaliRoshi
It's not that it wasn't a penalty, it's that it was a weak penalty, which decided the game based on the rules.

The rules regarding what should constitute a penalty need to change. From ridiculous handballs, to players being tripped with no clear path to goal on the outskirts of the box, these things should not result in a free shot on goal with a 90% likelihood of success.

An indirect free kick in the box would solve this issue. Maybe a red card too, but not a penalty.

A better understanding of what a clear and obvious foul is, to stop a clear shot on goal, is needed. Penalties can still exist, but they should happen far far less frequently. They shouldn't be deciding every other game.

It is quiet telling watching the Sky Highlight that the commentator states "and very quickly that check has been completed". Has there ever been such a fast check for a non clear penalty?

Watch Pogba's foot, it clearly bumps on Doug before tripping himself up.

The socks brush and because one kit is washed in Ariel and one in Persil, the static charges repelled them. As Luiz's was planted and Pogba's was in the air, his was the one it had more effect on and so his one leg was thrown into his other.

DS has said he "fully expects" Ross Barkley to be available for the Spurs game on the 13th January. He said Ross needs more time back on the training ground. That's fair enough after 6 weeks out. Sounds like the injury has healed but needs his fitness building up.

That's a good point that's been overlooked. Were still discussing it now and debating and yet they pretty much made up their minds straight away.

They're is contact but it's not a foul. It's what you'd call a 50/50 which means there is no advantage. Very frustrating but by the rules on VAR there is no clear and obvious error.
