Don't want to get too carried away and I know it doesn't quite work out like this, but if you look back over our results so far, we could have quite easily been top at this point.  A draw at West Ham and wins over Burnley and Newcastle (if it had gone ahead) would have seen us top with the extra goal difference we would have had.

True but one could say we got 6 points v Wolves/Leicester despite probably only deserving 2.

We were done out of two likely points by VAR at West Ham and home against Brighton.  And we did ourselves out of two points against Burnley by not being able to hit a barn door from a few yards about 27 times.  Small margins which would have put us second on 30 points with a game in hand.

You have to balance that out against decisions that have gone our way too though. And let's be fair there are games we didn't expect to win but did. Even in this recent when we were a little upset not beating Burnley, had we take 7 out 9 by beating them and drawing at Wolves we'd have been happy. We are making our own luck though for the most part and frankly a lot of it isn't luck at all. We are deserving pretty much everything that has come our way.

If Chelsea win the Champions League and Arsenal win the Europa League we would need to finish in the top three to qualify for the former. Something to keep an eye on in upcoming European games as both sides have made a habit of still managing to win trophies even in their "bad" seasons, recently.

Can we lock this thread please?!

It's either going to jinx us, and/or look really daft in four months time when we finish 12th!!

Fixed that for you.

Think it's unlikely we will get top four but it's nice having these conversations rather than hoping the bottom 3 keep losing.

Hopefully the club in 19th place keep losing.
