AEG is the first villa player to score in 3 successive premier league games since ....(no cheating)?

My first guess would be Darren Bent.

We needed a tough game before we go to OT on Friday.

Good preparation.

Big, big effort required on Friday then a week's rest before the Liverpool cup game (they only have 4 days) and 5 days before Spurs (they only have 3 days plus an EFL cup game beforehand).

Kante is a great player.  SJM is on a par.

Battling performance from us John McGinn was brilliant I'm happy with the point.

If you want a good laugh, look at the neighbours message boards. SHA have their usual multi page Villa match thread, crying over Super Jack.

But MolMix has to be the most hilariously bitter thread I've seen in a while! Page after page of sanctimonious hang wringing about cheating when they have players diving week in and week out for penalties. Only Man United and the Wolves have had players booked for diving this year. Tsk tsk.

Think there's a bit of a bottom lip out. Much like those bitter tossers from Sandwell "knowing what they are..." so too the tatters from Dinglehampton have believed in "minding the gap" a bit too much. Now natural order in the universe is restored, it tae fair!

Our next three league games are Man Utd, Tottenham and Everton; three games to relish, and who'd have thought that, a year ago?

Edit: or even three months ago?

Agreed.  Really enjoyed the game today, an absorbing contest between two very good sides that could have gone either way.

I really enjoyed the game today solid by each and everyone
But in regards to next 3 league matches  Man Utd away - could have won that last season 2-2
Spurs Home - we should have won that !
Everton home we did win it!

The difference this season our expectation will be higher.
I remember Villa hanging in a lot of matches last season but the mistakes and quality let us down

This season we can win all 3 !

Dean Smith has just given a very good extended post-match chat.

He sounds full of adrenalin and very happy.
What's he say?

He reiterated his pre-game quote saying he’s never seen a player leave the pitch through exhaustion, so happy to play the same eleven as the previous game.

Said it takes 3/4 seasons to get a squad like Chelsea’s and Villa have supportive owners to do that.

Repeated this in response to a question about January spending. If he needs it, they will pay.

He then removed Jim Beglin’s testicles with a spoon (blunt and rusty of course) and forced him to eat them.

Then made him shit them out and eat them again.

Considering only 2 days ago that team had played a match one man short for the whole of the 2nd half, the commitment and work rate today was immense. Have to single out SJM he was brilliant today, as good as any match he has played for us and what a shot, if it had gone in would be a contender for goal of the season.

A sign of how much the fans believe in this team, was the poll in the pre match thread, only 21% went for a Chelsea win, can't ever remember a % that low, against a 'top 6' team.

I have just heard that idiot Danny Mills on Talkshite telling us that the Villa goal should have not stood as Jack stuck a leg out and their guy caught him and was injured and it was a Chelsea free kick God some of these pundits are a joke

Grealish was solid if not dazzling spectacular
Started off slow yet again and gave the ball away with a blind pass which should have seen Pulisic score.

Jack left us all frustrated I'm sure when we saw him 2nd half  make a burst and dirve forward to goal but instead of a direct action continuing his great run either into the penalty area or to the by line he gave ball away in eagerness trying to play el Ghazi in

I didn't  like how he was treated for a lot of the game but he now seems to start matches off half looking for fouls in order to show the ref he's being fouled.
But he is also being fouled and it was not till 45 minute that ref finally decided to card a Chelsea player.

Thought villa started  well and Jack Grealish after a while got into the game as he eas dropping to deep i heard smith shouting higher to him a few times. He even having a decent effort early on at goal but saw his quality more second half. As hewas a great outlet and part of revival second half. But was disappointed how he initially started giving ball away with first touch and fouled twice but because of way reacted ref wouldn't give it.

McGinn and Douglas immense. As was  Cash , Konsa and Hause
Felt for Watkins who had little to work with

Really pleasing result and determined effort
Great to see.

At this time AEG is the most likely scorer of goals but the other front attacking players can definitely get goals. But AEG has stepped up a level and really pleased for him.  5 goals in 5 games.

I love McGinn screaming effort which capped a wonderful performance. Hes some player!

Danny Mills. A non entity as a footballer who never has a good word to day about us. His irrelevance further highlighted by stating Mendy is better than Martinez.

Superb performance again from Villa, but I’m a little disappointed we didn’t win. Our midfield was brilliant, and obviously credit to McGinn who was everywhere, but for me our best player was Luiz. He really is an outstanding footballer.

Danny Mills in having controversial opinions for money shocker. Why oh why anyone listens to Talkshite I have no idea.

Anyway cracking performance from the lads today, really enjoyed the tenacity and willingness to not be dictated to by a talented team. What we learnt is that we’re talented too though as Amazon Primes whole agenda seemed to be about Frank and his squad as usual we got no credit for what we did. That’ll change soon enough....
