Cash - must have 3 lungs - love this guy to bits - and to think some thought we over paid - superb cross for the Watkins goal - 8.5 / 10

Has settled in well considering it his first season in the top flight and only his second playing right-back.  Can see him developing into a very accomplished full-back.

Anyone got a clip of the Hause challenge? Missed that one.
Genuinely thought he went for the ball with his studs, was a bit late and caught the Albion player instead.  I personally wasn't sure about Livermore's being upgraded to red, though it did look particularly bad from the one angle.
Livermore's was  reckless lunge; Hause's was a mistimed tackle.

I thought Livermore's was a nailed on red. Hause's wasn't quite as bad but I still think he was lucky not to see red too.

I’d agree with this. Livermore was in the air when he held his leg and kicked out. Hause was clumsy, but a red wouldn’t have been a cause to complain myself. We got a little lucky I think, a different VAR referee and it could be different. Anyway, a hugely satisfying result and performance.

I quite liked this on one of their forums as I see it as a positive change which the big clubs have been doing for years:

"Yep. Villa were bickering and complaining about almost every corner, throw-in or free-kick that didn't go there way. Mings in particular regularly running away with the ball when the opposition have a throw or free kick to allow his team get back into a defensive shape. Big shouts whenever they go down. And not just yesterday. Seems to be a feature since at least Smith came in. Seems to be working for them.
Whereas we seemed very mute in comparison and if a throw doesn't go our way we just throw our hands up apologetically. As mentioned Diangana, didn't seem to make much of a deal with his ankle stamped on in comparison to the loud vociferous scream that Grealish let out when Livermore went into him.
Seems to help give Villa another edge over us and set part of their stall out for the game; although in fairness they had comprehensively outplayed us in every other facet as well."

It is called being streetwise and I am glad we are whereas in the past we haven't been.

Got to love the bitterness.

The gamesmanship from the Villa team was just plain sad to watch. Kicking balls away, going down under minimal contact, feigning injury - this is not the spot I fell in love with as a child. Which brings me on to Grealish...

...I have never denied that he is a talented lad as he quite clearly is. But my oh my, what an absolute **** this man is. He has cheated against us multiple times in previous meetings and he just couldn't help himself tonight, could he? There he was, galloping in to a dangerous, possibly goal-scoring opportunity when he decides to fling himself to ground under minimal contact. The fact that it wasn't even seen as a contentious decision is beyond my comprehension. Shame on all those who tolerate this state of affairs.

Cheat?

The Rodriguez handball goal was cheating  They have selective memories

John Terry was a master of this as a player. Whether you like it or not all the best teams do it. Think Man U during the Fergie reign

That's right. But I think fans of all clubs are guilty of that.

I still think Rodriguez is the footballer I hate the most at the moment  ( football sort of hate not nasty actual burning hatred)
it used to be for many years that gurning twat who scored for Man Utd in the last minute at OT i despised him for years even though he did fuck all after that

for my little Lad it’s Patrick Bamford
for my big Lad it was Dietmar Hamann ( never worked out why)

It’s ridiculous really

I'm with e junior, Bamford for me as well.  A really smackable face, and the biggest cheat in the Premier League.

Anyone know of any other non-working class British footballers?

Robert Hopkins was underclass. Does that count?
