I quite liked this on one of their forums as I see it as a positive change which the big clubs have been doing for years:

"Yep. Villa were bickering and complaining about almost every corner, throw-in or free-kick that didn't go there way. Mings in particular regularly running away with the ball when the opposition have a throw or free kick to allow his team get back into a defensive shape. Big shouts whenever they go down. And not just yesterday. Seems to be a feature since at least Smith came in. Seems to be working for them.
Whereas we seemed very mute in comparison and if a throw doesn't go our way we just throw our hands up apologetically. As mentioned Diangana, didn't seem to make much of a deal with his ankle stamped on in comparison to the loud vociferous scream that Grealish let out when Livermore went into him.
Seems to help give Villa another edge over us and set part of their stall out for the game; although in fairness they had comprehensively outplayed us in every other facet as well."

Richard Keys blithering on about Hause not being sent off, a moot point but he kept bringing it up the fat Coventry nonce.

Keys claiming no evidence that Livermore tackle was bad, but describing Hause as "vile"

Anyway, I hope they take the Rags route of excuses about luck and decisions. It's what keeps them in the mire and always will do. The ''it ain't fair'' attitude.

Always makes me laugh to listen to the WM radio phone-in when we've beaten Blues or Albion.  It starts off on the Monday with "we might have won had we taken out chances / not had a man sent off / if Villa had had someone sent off", then as the week progresses that becomes "we definitely would have won ..." and by the end of the week they have almost convinced themselves that they did win and that our win didn't really count anyway.

It is always accompanied by some kind of victory, whether it be moral or otherwise.  Think this time round it will be the Hause challenge and "it would have been a very different game" if it had been a red.

We are playing very well now for a number of weeks.

Martinez 7, Cash 7, Hause 7, Mings 7, Targett 7, Luiz 8, McGinn 7, Traore 9, AEG 8, Jack 9, Watkins 6

Had to chuckle at this. You're usually a hard marker but give Traore a 9! I guess a cheeky goal and an assist covers a multitude of sins (underhit passes, failure to beat a defender on his right at any time etc.) ;D

Absolutely ! His right foot is definitely for standing on only alright , falling over in their box when trying to shoot with his right foot was quite funny. Thought his set piece delivery was decent, excellent first half and assist, brilliant clinching goal.

I wouldn't go OTT about our performance generally. West Brom were abject, worse than Fulham in the second game even with 11. Much stiffer tests ahead.

Martinez - Has anyone woke him up yet and told him the game was over? - 0/10  useless did not make one decent save  ;)

Cash - must have 3 lungs - love this guy to bits - and to think some thought we over paid - superb cross for the Watkins goal - 8.5 / 10

Mings - Imperious best and no Mings cock up tonight - 8/10

Hause - Worries me he is naturally out of position but good enough till Konsa back - unlucky with header - 7/10

Targett - Boy has this guy manned up since last season - throws everything into challenges and is a big part of our attack formation - 8/10

Luiz - Really has found his position - wish he would find his shooting boots - 8/10

McGinn - sometimes sloppy, sometimes brilliant - he is what he is and we will live with it - needs to also find shooting boots - 8/10

Jack - His pace from standing still catches everyone out - top defenders as well as the carthorses - nothing else to say - 10/10 MOTM (and probably every match)

El Ghazhi - played like a man on a mission to purge the demons of all those misses against Burnley - sometimes acts like a Ronaldo fan boy but does have skill and great application - 1 great goal and cool penalty - 9/10

Watkins - works his nads off and goals will come for him - his first year in the premiership and certainly does not look out of place - might fair better against better defenders rather than some of the cloggers - 7.5 / 10

Traore - great skill and great application - these skilful players can be frustrating as they will try things that dont always come off - but when they do, like his filthy goal, it is worth it - great game and if King Jack not playing easily MOTM - 9.5 /10

Dean Smith  - calm, educated, rational whilst all the time learning to manage at this level - he is light years away from dinosaurs like Bruce and Alladyce - 9.75 / 10

Didn't even gloat to my Baggie supporting neighbour post match. They're not even worthy of the attention.   ;)

Yup - don't even bother with my close mates who support the Rags - worse for them as

a) they are waiting for the gloat to torment them further.
b) when it doesn't come it means their Shteclub aren't even worth the ink

Got to love the bitterness.

The gamesmanship from the Villa team was just plain sad to watch. Kicking balls away, going down under minimal contact, feigning injury - this is not the spot I fell in love with as a child. Which brings me on to Grealish...

...I have never denied that he is a talented lad as he quite clearly is. But my oh my, what an absolute **** this man is. He has cheated against us multiple times in previous meetings and he just couldn't help himself tonight, could he? There he was, galloping in to a dangerous, possibly goal-scoring opportunity when he decides to fling himself to ground under minimal contact. The fact that it wasn't even seen as a contentious decision is beyond my comprehension. Shame on all those who tolerate this state of affairs.

I've heard this for years in the pub, this holier than thou is bollocks. It's a Wengerism. Agin you it's an issue killing the game, for you? abject silence.

Anyone remember their take when Rodriguez decided to play Basketball twice for their goal a couple of years ago. I'm just glad they don't have him or Long anymore, the players who only seem to raise their game against us.

I was irrationally nervous at 1-0 with 15 to go, considering how dominant we were. Just hard to shake off the villa of recent years, who would of let a soft equaliser in against the run of play.
We were so dominant all over the field from start to end, it didn’t end up feeling like a derby. Everyone had a good game, and as has been said the wingers were impressive, but I thought McGinn, was superb.
The only disappointment is the decision to disallow Watkins goal. He wasn’t ahead of the defender even with all the stupid lines, he was level at worse, and unless the rules have completely changed, level is on side. He played well tonight, but you can see through his body language that he needs a goal now, positively he still keeps getting in good positions.
Great win though and we are looking so good.
I was nervous too but it’s because the two commentators were talking them up. It was starting to irritate me up to the second goal. Totally agree with the “offside” too  even with the lines he looked onside

Talking them up to keep neutrals tuned in.

Brilliant, the more he gets under the skin of opposition fans the better.

We all know (and they know we know) that if he played for them they would be spouting the exact opposite.

Agree - he is sort of like Cantona in that respect. The more people rail about him the more he winds them up and helps galvanise the team further. Obviously Cantona was a total thug to boot.

He's a genuine master of a footballing basic; keep your body between the ball and opponent. His close control means means he will never be dispossessed by a player behind him, and it gives him the freedom to ignore them and concentrate on what's now in front of him, travelling in whatever direction or at whatever speed takes his fancy. If you are behind him and you impede him, it is a foul.

Sums them up that salty wankers like this would rather love some game dominated by the likes of Livermore than Grealish.

Correct - excellent touch and spatial awareness and protection of the globe. He is one of those players who knows when to expect the inevitable foul.
