5 subs will eventually happen no doubt but it absolutely should not be allowed to happen during the season - I know integrity is not something the Premier League are overly familiar with but in this case it is blatantly obvious that the likes of Klopp are bleating about to gain a competitive advantage, absolutely nothing to do with player welfare at all.  Had they been a dozen points clear like last year he’d have been gurning into the cameras telling it ‘is what it is’ - they know that they have a bit of fight on to retain the title so gone full on whinging.

You never hear these hypocrites moan about the workload created by pointless rounds and rounds of group fixtures in Europe & the associated travel (particularly in a pandemic) they just want the rest of the domestic game to bend to their agendas....well I’m firmly behind likes of Dean or Wilder in telling them to do one.

Absolutely.

Also - in a normal season - the Redscouse and Man U think nothing of extended pre season trips to the USA, Asia, Australia etc.

Even as it stands right now, Liverpool, Man Citeh et al have a strong enough 25 to rotate and keep players fresh. And not see a huge drop off in quality compared to the teams outside the top 6/7.

What Dean Smith, Chris Wlder and anyone with half a brain can see is that you might have a club with those inbuilt advantages on the ropes in a match. But if they can effectively sub half the team off, the chance of an upset recedes.

It also gives them a far stronger hand when it comes to stockpiling players and not needing to loan a Barkley or a Luiz (glorified loan) out.

Totally agree and it would be nice for someone to actually make that point in an interview or press conference instead of letting him whine on  about how unfair it is.

What drives me mad about substitutions is the number of blatantly time wasting substitutions that are made in the last few minutes of games - and very often even the last few seconds of games.  I have seen games recently where a sub has come on and the referee has immediately blown the final whistle.  That practice should be outlawed and/or limited in some way.

Oh, I don't know. I thought Nakamba played really well when he came on against Wolves.

Are the champions league teams going to share their extra revenue to even up the advantage smaller clubs would give them if we went to five subs?

Even if Klopp's sole motivation is player welfare, which I sincerely doubt, he can't deny or simply ignore the bare fact that it will give team s like Liverpool a substantial advantage.

With their wealth they should be able to have 25 top-level players they can rotate regularly.  Some won't be as quite as  good as others but they should still be of a higher standard than most players from the majority of the other PL clubs.

Of course it's all really about facilitating their money making exploits in Europe and pre-season tours, another excuse to keep the elite as the elite.  So Klippety can fuck off.

As Ancelotti says:

"If you need to rest players, you do that at the beginning of the game, not sub him after 60 or 70 minutes."

Yes well said Ancelotti.
Having to use subs is anti-rotation strategy. In most games like of Liverpool or Man city do not use subs. Their strategy is to rotate and let those selected to finish the game and ensure no subs are used thus resting their players completely  for the next game. However where they find themselves in a sticky match needing to win or at least not to lose, say 20 minutes to go,  they can bring on fresh players. It's all about  getting results nothing about player welfare.

That interview he did a week ago was hilarious when he told the interviewer he wasn't going to continue as the bloke thought it was a penalty.  Twat.
