What is richards going to say about is?
Richards put as much effort in his comments as he did whilst (not) playing for us. Murphy was much better praising our work ethics and doing what was required.

Like others have said, I never felt we would lose the game. So different from last season. Great to see that we can grind out a result against tricky opponents. Martinez must give our defenders a lot of confidence with his calm goalkeeping. To a man, the lads put up a great fighting spirit which I haven’t seen for some years. Not getting carried away but, I really do think we could be realistic top 6 contenders this season. Just wish we had a bit stronger bench but, that will also come in time. UTV.

First words out of Danny Murphy's mouth "Leicester were without a lot of players and it showed" Someone else with an inexplicable dislike of the Villa. Oh well fuck him and fuck all the others who don't like us for no apparent reason.

You expect it from Murphy.  It's in him deep to the marrow.

I doubt Mark Chapman even watched our game.  Clocked it was a late winner, so knew it must have been 0-0 for 90 odd minutes so, by definition, shit. Or tough.

Yes, it probably isn't as easy on the limited attention span as the American football he sits through in his main job.

I'm with you. There was some top quality out there tonight. Of course we'd all like to see goals but there's a lot more to a decent game of football than the scoreline.

Thoroughly professional job by the Villa.

That Italian defender marking Jack was like an Italian defender of yesteryear.  Decent player too who made it tough for Jack. Jack still had a big influence on the game even so.

Murphy is awful. Always has been. He won’t like us because he doesn’t know anything about us, how we play, tactics etc and hasn’t done his research. We were the far better team, he just won’t acknowledge it. He is like Shearer of old and Lawrenson, just sports loads of repetitive soundbites and general bollocks. I hate to think what they pay him. Mono toned prat

I agree even at 0-0 I thought it was a good game between two well matched sides. ‘Chappers’ is a no-nothing  ‘I bloody love soccer, me’ buffoon in the tim lovejoy mold only worse if that’s humanly possibly, and Murphy is a bitter little gnome. Fuck them.

I thought we took our time getting into the game but once we did, we got better, second half especially. I honestly can't pick a bad player out, but as for good ones,
Grealish really was fucking immense.

Yep, it was a decent game between two well-matched sides.  Bearing in mind we shipped 8 goals in the league against them last season over the two games, we obviously set out to keep it tight from the off.

Grealish just shaded it from Cash in my opinion.  McGinn was great though, Targett had a good game, Trez worked his knackers off.  Etc and etc.

I am absolutely loving how so many “pundits” and fans are getting so salty about us. They are all waiting for the bubble to burst. Dying to say they knew all along we were punching above our weight. And it might happen. But honestly, fuck each and every one of them. We are here purely on merit. They will be hoping Bielsa’s Leeds do us on Friday too. Well how about we’ll see all you fuckers on top of the table on Friday night.

Yes, he also said 'Villa set out to spoil the game'. I don't think that was the case at all.

First half was awful though, second half was better and obviously we love it because of the result, but a neutral watching that game would have that most of it was a bit crap. And that's what we'd be saying in 'other games' if it had been Everton v Leicester.

Who gives a fuck though when you win.

I saw it differently, two teams constantly pressing hard, not willing to give an inch, Leicester tried to bully us but we weren't having it, not that the ref helped by stopping it. It was a real tough game and we held our own, never panicked and continued to work the ball when we had a chance. In the end a bit of magic separated the teams and on reflection, we deserved it.

Felt a bit sorry for Watkins who had little support but he kept to the task and never let his head drop. Castagne is a right nasty player, talented but a dirty, sneaky little scumbag who was extremely lucky to stay on the pitch. Other referees won't be so generous.

Special mention to Dougie Luiz who must have been suffering with jetlag but you'd never have known. Like the others, he put in a real shift. Low on goals it may have been but it was a really intriguing game to watch, waiting to see who would take their foot off the pedal.

Onwards and upwards.
