The three seasons under ONeill vs Emery ... maybe the league positions aren't too different but in style and number of league wins they are chalk and cheese.

Agreed.

My argument was that MO'N and SUE both have/had the ability to have Villa going into games against 'big' clubs without defeat feeling inevitable.

It would be interesting to compare the records of Villa managers over, say, the last thirty years for comparison.

Look how unimaginative we were at home for most of the three years we had him. Good on the counter but there was never a plan B. Unai shows every week how good he is tactically with his subs. Taylor, Atkinson and Little are the high water marks for me as bosses in my time but none of them were as good at changing a game like Unai.
