Fixtures Season 2020/21
« on: August 02, 2020, 01:17:27 PM »
So the new season starts on 12 September. I read somewhere that fixtures may not be released till 21 August just 3 weeks before the first game day.
Has anybody heard/know anything different?

Starts September 12th, but Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Wolves could start later as the league wants them to have a thirty day break from their last European game. So hopefully we won't play any of them and have a backlog. Fixtures due to be announced on or by 21st August. Will then, presumably, all be moved around for telly as I expect they'll carry on televising every game until crowds are allowed back in.

I hope they do show all the games, I was too frit to watch at the back end of last season.

Could be a really good chance to win the league cup next season. I think most of the top 6/7 will put out similar teams to what Liverpool did v us as they'll have loads of european games in October and November. With the Arsenal win yesterday Spurs have to play three just to get in europa league group stages apparently.

Wouldnt be surprised if they drop the League Cup in the next few weeks blaming congestion.

There's still a will to play it with the projected fixture list. Let's not forget teams in europe come in later rounds anyway but I suspect teams will be given option of playing under 21 teams in as probably a couple of the rounds will be scheduled the same wages as european fixtures.

Or give an option to clubs in European  competitions to opt out?

Something will have to give. That's the folly of trying to play a full 9 month season when there's only now eight months to do it (and that's if there is no more disruption from covid).

Of course Uefa/Fifa could've offered to help by dropping one of the four international breaks next season but no such luck there.

I'll go for something bland like Burnley H

So much better than it being Cardiff A or Barnsley H

Manchester's has beens at the Theatre of Plastic Tossers. Knowing our luck we'll get Man City away.
Honestly, a couple of decent signings, I fear nobody.

The Manchester clubs and Wolves (Chelsea too?) get a 30 day break from their last game so whoever draws them on the first day may have to wait to play them.
