I know Louie gets a lot of attention but Brad Young is a super talent too.

He's a fiery little bugger, isn't he? Not seen him play before, but looks ok in this.  More involved than Barry, certainly.

Yes he doesn’t give up on things easily. Keeps chasing things down which allows Barry to get into open spaces he helps create when mistakes are forced.

I do love our full back Kesler too

This young Villa team really is fun to watch

They are and this is a step up from our previous successful youth teams. They are much more comfortable with the ball

that was some of the worst defending I've ever seen, and my god we've seen a lot of that.

Can't we just have a day off from lambasting our team? FFS!
Oh ok - so if it's bad we're not allowed to say, right?

Schoolboy teams sometimes make schoolboy errors. It happens, it's the sort of mistake they have to make to learn from.  A bit of indecision between keeper and defender, both left it.  I suspect the next mistake will be both going for the same ball.  Over time and with more experience they'll learn precisely when to go for it, and when to leave it.

I think the last FA Youth Cup match I watched us play live had Wayne Rooney playing for Everton. At that time he stood out (obviously), as did Steven Davis and Luke Moore - simply because they looked SO comfortable with the ball. I'd say we've got four or five here who look as comfortable on the ball as I remember Davis looking.

Maybe the kids coming through just ARE technically better than 20 years ago - but maybe we've got a team here where three of four could become first-team players...?

Yep. Jack takes a real interest in the kids and as club captain and Villa fan it’s always great to see

It's borderline negligence that some of these lads haven't at least had a few minutes here and there in the first team.

I loved that first leg at Goodison Park, hearing all about the new wonder-boy, Wayne Rooney - scored first, and then wasn't it 4-1 to us? I just looked this up and apparently it was 20 years ago........ gulp.

I don’t think it’s that at all. They all train with the first team. They are all on long term deals. They will be integrated next year slowly. Might we have seen a bit more? I mean sure. But it’s hardly negligence.

A tad over the top. They're only 16-17, they will get their chance eventually.

Brad Young uncanny resemblance to Ollie McBurnie, That’s where the similarity ends mind, very impressed with him first half.

It has to be said that Smethwick have some pretty decent looking players too.

Really enjoying the game. Two excellent goals from us and a bit of horror show defending from a corner.

I'm hoping not off the pitch!

I think they well have had more minutes in the first team if we weren’t still in this cup. We’ve clearly prioritised this competition.
