Can't really argue with McGinn being dropped but not sure Hourihane has done an awful lot either.

Agreed. Slim pickings isn't it.

The only person who's earned a spot in that midfield on the basis of the restart games to date is Luiz really

What position does Slim Pickings play?

Certainly not right back, otherwise he'd be starting.

Well, we have Drinky to look forward to as a MF subb when Nakamba's been found out for the nth time.

Smith just said we’re in a better place now than at the start of the restart!?
No we’re not. If we’d have won that game in hand, we’d have been out of relegation with everything in our hands. We have to rely on 2 teams being shitter than us now!

I'm happy with this. This feels like a reaction to what we have seen in the last 3 games in which no striker or midfielder has scored.

Folk have wanted us to give it a real go. This seems like a chance to do that.

Come on boys!

This gives us a better chance of winning the game. Happy with this, just need the players to put in a performance now. Going to be tough though.

No problem whatsoever from me for the team manager has selected.  What I wanted aside from AEM coming in at RB but can understand why we've kept Konsa there.

Think this sort of line up is more likely to get us two wins and the odd draw in the run in compared to what we've been putting out.

Problem with this formation is Hourihane is deployed as a CM to win the ball back when what you want is him where he was against Newcastle near the front and given ball to ping into the box.I worry we will see another Chelsea performance from him as he chases players around but doesn't get near them and does nothing on the ball.

Nakamba im glad is back as Luiz needs help to defend.

Essentially we are going to be going early to the strikers with Grealish hoping to play off them and get beyond them into space if he can.

The concern is if we sit too deep we are going to have a very narrow MF and they will use the wing backs to exploit that , look to them to spread cross field balls out to the wings like Chelsea did.

This is the side I would have picked. If it doesn’t work, I can’t complain, I’m just pleased that Dean’s giving it a go.  Come on you Villa boys!

Was that Purslow in the tunnel when Smith seems to be trying to explain tactics to him? If it was, Purslow's body language didn't look very positive. Hmmm...

In absolute terms, we're better off by 2 points ...
but, being a league, all that matters is the relative position and we're still 19th.
