Guilbert and Targett are better than our ‘wingers’ that we have
Therefore they should be the ones we look for width from.

    352

                Nyland
       Konsa Hause Mings
Guilbert Luiz McGinn Jack Targett
           Samatta Davis

I've no problem with that either, we have to go two up front tonight. We then have the option of bringing El Ghazi on from the bench, his best position, to run at tired legs. Attack as a team, defend as a team. That line up should be able to do just that.

I would love to see 4 4 1 1 with Jack with a free reign behind the striker.
It won’t happen though.

Bruce has done better with what I think is a limited Newcastle side than I thought he would. I must admit this match has crept up on me as I didn't realise it was scheduled so soon.

He does at least have the luxury of a wide player with a bit of pace and attacking intent.  I reckon I could comfortably mark El Ghazi and Trezeguet out of a game, they're both that poor.

Yes I’d be happy with that line up, and if Guilbert isn’t fit then Elmo. Surely we must try 2 up front because his preferred system is pants, but I’ll be very surprised if he does.

Me too.  Our wingers don't deserve a place on the bench, let alone a starting berth.  With that midfield you'd have the advantage of both McGinn and Grealish being able to make attacking runs from the centre of midfield which is what their game thrives on.

I was going to say that the only place I want to see Drinkwater is in the opposition team, but then I remembered we do not have a great record against ten men.

Steer
Elmo - Hause - Mings - Targett
Luiz
McGinn - Jack
Anwar - Samatta - Davis

I'd expect Nyland to start though

That's how I'd go, use Davis coming in to give some support to the front man. Play the early diagonals over from Elmo on to Davis and get up the pitch

I think it’s too hot to play football. Just call it off anyway!

With the heat they will be stopping every 10 minutes for a water break, and they need it with all the running and effort that they put into every game.

We need to win this or on Saturday, or I think we can forget staying up. But listening to the West Ham fans on Talk Sport, they sound as though they have the same problems as us, no direction and lots of money spent on poor signings. And many thought that Villa played well against Chelsea and that their team is going down.

Agreed, a win and maybe a draw would get us to 30/31 points which would be massive psychologically and leave us a win (with some draws) or two away from safety.

Not sure I can bring myself to watch if I’m honest, the first 2 games of this abortion of a restart have left a distinct meh about the whole thing.

Think I’ll go for a ride in the sun, by the time I get home I can then check my phone for the score and avoid the inevitable 90 minutes of swearing and anger.

Our current form reminds me of Lamberts final days... players looked utterly defeated, devoid of confidence and ability. Then Sherwood came in and for awhile we looked reinvigorated, a completely different team with new attacking purpose and spirit. Didn’t last obviously but we stayed up. Just saying...
