I thought Guilbert would have started.

So would I.

He must have a knock or slight illness, no way Elmo should be chosen ahead of him.

So why is he on the bench?

Because I'm wrong.

Kodjia still injured then!

press conference Thursday Dean said he went home sick from training and would be evaluated on Friday. He clearly didn't make it.

3511.

I'm not sure what system people expect or is it just customary to whinge like fuck every time a team is announced.

Best fan alert

I wouldn't say I'm the best, far from it. Just parked up though after another 90 mile journey. Hopefully your journey to your living room past all your NRC posters was as smooth as the M6 south was today.

Congrats pal, when does the club issue your medal? Not that it ever matters, frankly, but I can promise you I do more miles than you to get to a Villa game.

Point-scoring aside and getting back on topic, it's always 100% valid to be anxious over a starting lineup that includes both Elmohamady and Taylor. A fortune spent on transfers and we're fielding the same poor full backs we did in the Championship

I think the people expressing concern here are entitled to do so, but enjoy your moral high ground.

To be fair I’m not sure Taylor will have an opportunity to play a final ball today!

I think Targett has just been omitted as Taylor is better defensively. Surprised about Guilbert, and Trezeguet out for Hourihane to a lesser extent. Looks a bit ominous without a new CF signed as well. Here's hoping.

Defensive set up against one of the best teams in Europe. I can't understand why folk would want us to be balls out go for it mode and probably get smashed to bits.

Point scoring from the person who brought up better fan than you shite. I go, you dont. I see a postie from N. Ireland who goes every game, I'll see him next week at Brighron. He's a better fan than you as well.

In the circumstances I think that is an okay selection, other than Gilbert for Elmo as Gilbert definitely suits 3 at the back and he did actually score our goal in midweek which Elmo wouldn't have done.

Unfortunately whoever we put out won't stop Man City from winning, as long as we put up a good show and don't capitulate! UTV

Guillbert apart, you can't really blame him for not going balls-out against a side like Man City.  A few weeks ago we were all (me included) moaning at Dean for never changing the formation - I don't think we can be too disappointed that he's now doing just that (though I think I'd prefer to see a bit more attacking threat in home games).

I guess we'll see when they line up how much actual attacking threat there will be. Hourihane certainly more forward thinking than Nakamba, so that's a little encouraging.
