Wesleys best game, typically he then gets injured.

Kodjia was naff when he came on.

New formation worked well 1st half and we withstood a barrage of crosses in the 2nd.

Fucking needed that!

Much better and much needed. The defensive three at the back work well together with Mings being in the middle.
Need to invest in a striker tho, maybe even two.

Well Done to Dean and the coaching team getting the players up for this one.

Happy New Year to all H&V'ers!

I have advocated Kodjia getting game time, over the last few weeks.

I won’t be doing that again.

We have all fallen for his absence making him better than he is.

Jack was brilliant today. And I also noticed his chasing down in the last 10 of the Burnley defence when they had the ball. Superb

First half great football, second half gutsy.

Doug’s failed chip of the keeper meant we were put through the mill as usual, but that’s the ref’s fault with the feckin ludicrous disallowed goal as 3 up would have been comfortable. Jack’s header was straight out the Alan Shearer handbook, bloody ace and he’s been unfairly denied it. Burnley played well in the second but nowhere near as well as we did in the first. Roll on 5-3-2.

Well done Dean & co. Proper performance when it was needed. Looks like he's saved his job for now, and honestly despite my doubts I couldn't be happier at this exact moment as it means we won. I'll take that all day long, more points please.

Thank fuck for that and 3 points on the board.

A much improved performance all over the pitch, management team making the correct decisions, and Tyrone being vocal leading the team from the back.

Concerns about Wes and Toms injuries, so hope they won’t be out for too long. Nyland looks like he has improved significantly so can fill in if needed, but this enforces the urgent requirement to sign another striker as JK simply isn’t fit for purpose in this team.

Happy New Year Villa! 😊👍

Purslow on the pitch at the end telling Dean 'fantastic'. Clearly Dean aint going anywhere.

Yep very very noticeable. Invested in Dean, emotional, feeling vindicated.

I think that's how we should all feel but there you go.

If someone who'd never seen us play had read the comments on this board (mine very definitely included) and then watched that match they would assume they'd got the wrong Aston Villa. Deano changed tactics and it worked really well, Wesley was excellent and Kodjia extremely not, we conceded late but hung on doggedly to win instead of capitulating. Everything that was the case was inverted today. Long may it last!

Three enormous points. Can’t keep letting teams have 20 attempts on goal though.

Of course the counter argument is that we must have limited them to some pretty desperate attempts if only one was on target.

The term "flat track bully" comes to mind with Kodjia I'm afraid.

Massive win, system change from Smith seems to have worked a treat. Concern over Heaton and Wesley, we knew we needed a striker anyway but now with Steer also out long term could be relying on Nyland.

Huge victory! Well done Villa boys and Deano. Hopefully we've used up all our bad luck in one game with var and injuries.
A great way to start the new year! UTV!
