I have to say the coverage on the tv and radio was rubbish. The narrative was all about the kids, regardless of the result. No balance whatsoever.

Even Conor stated it was a lose lose situation for us. A win and everyone will only talk about Liverpool kids. A loss and they will only talk about Liverpool kids. Liverpool has a big enough squad of players to be able to put old heads in their team as mix it around and decided not to.

Doesnt stop all the arseholes texting into the BBC stating it is the EFL's fault for not allowing 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' to move the match to a more convenient time for them, forgetting that there are two teams in it and moving the match would have been more inconvenient to us. Bizarely someone has texted in stating it is the FA's fault for not playing the first three rounds in August before the season starts.

We did a great service to Carabao Cup in particular and football in general tonight. Liverpool disrespected this competition and were rightly trounced. Forget this rubbish about kids, they fielded a team, we sorted it so fuck em I say.

Hopefully Alan Hansen will have once again been watching a  Villa win and muttering something about not winning anything with kids.

I was beginning to think we had lost 5-0 from the glowing praise being heaped on Liverpool.

I think we needed that. I only watched on TV (actually, a laptop) but it was god to see us panic and then regain control and composure. Also great to see Chester back. Also their kids are excellent.

Nice to score 5, Kodjia played himself into contention for Saturday, before Wes gave Deano a nudge at the end. Nyland played well for a third choice keeper.

Really pleased for Nyland tonight. He kept us in the game in the first 15 minutes.
His shot-stopping was excellent and his distribution was first-rate as well.

The one thing that would make this hilariously better would be if their other (grown-up) team get a serious stuffing from Monterrey in Qatar tomorrow night.

We didn’t get out of second gear ourselves for most of the game and when we stepped it up we scored almost at will.

Liverpool didn’t get into top gear either, except when Clarkson came on.

(Sorry, coat etc etc)
