We committed 4 fouls in the entire game, and won 2 corners.

This is what you would expect to see in a training game.

Good to see Kodjia and Wesley on the scoring sheet.

Liverpool have some very good young players.

Although more and more I am starting to wonder what the point of Jota is.
I thought he played pretty well actually.  He knocks it around better than most of our lot.  His overall effectiveness though is limited by being painfully slow.

Playing out wide simply isn’t his position now even if it was when he was younger. Although I doubt he was ever quick. He’s better served behind the forward versus against fast full backs.

Did what we needed to do without really breaking a sweat. Nyland was excellent, Kodjia is back scoring and smiling. I'm also happy for Wesley, that actually was a decent, clinical finish.

Fingers crossed Everton do Leicester tomorrow and we get them next up.

They would bring over 30k to Villa Park.

We won comfortably.

They had chances but there was a gulf in quality.

Wesley took his goal well, right in the corner.

Was reminiscing last week with my mate about beating Norwich at the same stage under Lambert, then hearing Bradford knocking out Arsenal as we were on the way back.

That worked out well for us.

Hiding to nothing with this game. Job done, banana skin avoided and one step from Wembley.

Let’s not get carried away though - without the performance of Nyland, it could have been very different.
Liverpool u23s had same shots on target as us, with 160 odd more passes. 5-0 massively flattered us massively.

I’ve got Napoli on the phone, and they’re annoyed.

Probably not a good team to annoy, given some of their connections.

We won, three nice goals, two fortunate one's.  Can't be unhappy with the scoreline as it'll go into the record books and no-one will care if we played their reserves/youth set-up.  Good from Nyland, although some really poor defending again in front of him.  For me, Lansbury is still absolutely shite and not worth a place in the top division.  People saying Jota was poor yet he set up a couple of the goals., he is painfully slow and not good enough at the top level, same as Lansbury.   Job done without really playing well.  I thought Villa looked a bit of an unhappy camp, maybe I am looking too much into the lack of celebration with Wesley.

Lowest crowd of the season by far too.
