i.e. We cocked this one up and have hardly sold any tickets. Please, please come, we really need you.

Yes, that was how I roughly translated that statement too.

This is the proverbial banana skin game of all proverbial banana skin games. Some of our players need to play themselves back into form so I’d play as strong team as possible but rest a few obvious players such as SJM and Jack (probably still have him on the bench though). Wesley needs to play...if he can’t score against these then fuck knows when he will do, and I doubt him playing tonight will affect his performance against Southampton.

Took the words I was going to type there KRS- massive potential banana skin for us this one. We should win it, should... but we just seem to make very hard work of what on paper, should be straightforward games. I’m backing us to win it inside the 90’ as the bookies have Liverpool 7-1. But you just never know in situations like this with Villa!

Come on Villa boys, let's do these tonight! It doesn't matter who's out on the field for them (that's their choice) we need to get one over them. A win for us will show that Liverpool has been defeated! A semi final awaits so let's get the job done! UTV!!

If we were playing Liverpool's first team tonight then I wouldn't care if we lost, as we're playing their kids though we have to win to avoid embarrassment. To win this trophy we're probably going to have to beat Man City along the way and that isn't going to happen. They'd destroy us over two legs, as would Leicester.

Oh dear qv!! You must be cleaning up at the bookies with your forecasts. Whatever you do don't go applying for any marketing or pr. roles at VP any time soon.
Enjoy the game!

I think this could be a big score like a 5-10 goals . Their under 23 haven't won in December and lost 4-0 last time they played away on 6th December

Recent form no win in last 3 matches for Liverpool under 23 team.
December form:
1-1 away at Huddersfield
1-1 failing to beat Chelsea under 23 playing against 10 men for last 20 mins

And their last away match was 4-0 loss to spurs on 6th December.

These 'wonder kids' have a -8 goal difference sitting unremarkably in  7th out of 12th.
The only wonder there is will be wondering how many ever play regularly at premier league level (for ant club let alone Liverpool or Villa)

Quite frankly for some of these Liverpool players tonight this will be the biggest match they will ever get to play and biggest stage.

The only upset will be these kids

I'll take 6-1 and 6-0 at 50/1
I hoping 9-0 just to make those Scouse weep.

Hmm its not as simple as that though. If we gi  with that attitude we run thr risk of another bradford humiliation

Hopefully this will be the last time a team competing in the Club World Cup is allowed to enter a team into the League Cup in the same season. Crazy situation. Cannot believe how much of a banana skin this is for us. It shouldn't be thus.

I'd give Wesley a game, personally.
But we want to win the tie, don't we?
I'd give him a game too, in our reserves.... for a month or so.
