Liverpool virtually never lose penalty shootouts. Get it won in the first half, no fucking around please, Villa.

They lose more of them than we do.

Extensive and deep research in google for Guess The Crowd has proved this assertion to be true.

1 -0 home win.
Huff and puff to 90+3 (30 secs before extra time) and el Ghazi bundles one in with a diving header that goes in off his back, from a corner.

This is the perfect game to get Chester back into the team, it's a lose lose situation for us, we will be expected to win and well. I'd go with the players who won't be in the team for our biggest game of the season on Saturday.
Nyland
Elmo Chester Konsa Taylor
Luiz
Jota Hourihane Lansbury Trezeguet
Kodija
Subs:
Kalanic
Guilbert
Hause
Davis
Grealish
Wesley
El Ghazi

i'd give Wesley a game, personally. If he can't bully the Liverpool paper boys and rediscover his scoring boots, there's probably no hope.

I'd rest as many as possible I think.

I'd have Heaton as captain.

Elmo Konsa Hause Taylor

Luiz Lansbury Hourihane

Archer Kodjia O'Hare

O'Hare is at Coventry on loan, poor bugger.

Villa are 3/10 to win the game. Liverpool's odds are 48/10.

I don't think we could've had a better opportunity to stop this losing-type-nonsense. If our senior pros can't beat an Anfield juniors & infants 11, we may as well play a load of our own kids for the rest of the season & wave the white flag of surrender. Shirley we won't screw this up?!  :o

How different is Liverpool's side going to be to the one that beat Arsenal in the last round?

Very. I think only the goalie from their starting 11 will be playing against us, and possibly Brewster if he recovers from a knock.

Edit: Looking it up and Sepp van den Berg, Ki-Jana Hoever and Harvey Elliott may play against us and then fly out to Qatar.

We will be able to rest McGinn and Jack at least and maybe try some different tactics as  to be honest I dont see this game as very high priority, other than to get through unscathed and have a bit of confidence, as we really need to beat Southampton on Saturday. (yep, thats stating the bleeding obvious  ::))

That said, it'll be 1-0, but not sure who to.
