we didnt hold a minutes silence on remembrance cuz we fucked that up as well .... if people actually listened to the announcer and not guess we might get it right .. for remembrance the announcer clrearly said ..AFTER  the last post the minutes silence will begin snd end on the REFS whistle ..the same as for ron but the crowd didnt wait they just started clapping ffs

I think Ron would be embarrassed at the amount of fuss made out of a misunderstanding of the minutes applause protocol.

It wasn't perfect, but the intentions were honest and the fans love for the man was never in doubt.

My memory of that day is him ushering the players up to the Holte End to lap up the applause. I think it was Ivor Linton alongside him on the pitch.

That day meant a lot to me too having been there in Rotterdam. It was also a rare visit to Villa Park around that time due to Saturday being my busiest work day managing a betting shop.
