Saunders was Villa and Villa were Saunders when I was growing up. Never equalled, never to be forgotten.

Absolutely. He brought times I never thought I’d see at the Villa. Thank you Ron

He scared me as a kid and even though he was getting frail he still scared me as an adult in the interview he gave for AVTV a while back. The man was and always will be an absolute legend.
I remember the interview he gave to Gary Newbon on the evening we won the title.
Newbon - "Are you going to smile now Ron"?
Saunders - "Life isn't all about smiling Gary"!

For me, nothing will ever surpass being in that heaving mass in Highbury at the Clock End. He gave us that.

A giant of Aston Villa. A man who was rightly both feared and revered.
