Villa v Leicester pre-match thread
« on: December 05, 2019, 06:54:28 PM »
I know it’s good to see a little club doing well, breaking up the monopoly that the TV favourites have had for too long, breath of fresh air and all that. But why, God, did it have to be Leicester? Not so much a city as the set of a zombie apocalypse b-movie, Leicester is responsible for the largest collection of mutants, throwbacks and genetic deformities football has ever witnessed. And if you don’t believe me, have a look down Witton Lane half an hour before the match. They’ve got a manager we were linked with and who might have done a decent job, a Big Name England international striker complete with Big Name England wife, the lad of our old keeper in goal and Marc Albrighton. He’s done well for himself. And all their success started when Tim Sherwood made a balls of going two-nil up against them in 2015. In a parallel universe we’ve been in the Champions League for the past four years and they’re halfway up the Championship.

There’s no reason why we can’t get at least a point from this match. They’re no better than teams we’ve played already and it’s about time we got the run of the ball for ninety minutes. In fact, there’s no reason why we can’t get three points.

Things newfooty fans won’t know – What Leicester City are, were and would have been before 2016. They didn’t miss much. If you want to find out, watch a Hammer Horror.

They seem to love VAR. It's even named after their star player. That worries me.

Leicester to win two-one after at least two hugely dubious decisions. Trez to score, again.

I like Leicester, ever since I was at university there and then worked for the city council for 4 years.  I fancy us to get a draw on Sunday, if no reason other than their winning run has to come to an end some time soon, and as they didn't win their last two games (at home v Everton and at home v Watford) in entirely convincing fashion they may well be willing to settle for one point on Sunday as a good result in the scheme of things.

2-2 with Mings doing a Chris Nicholl and scoring them all.

I was there the day we shocked them 5-0 at their place.  I was also there when we drew 4-4 at ours.  I'd be happy with either scoreline. Avoid defeat please.

I hadn't realised they'd won seven in a row until earlier, and that Vardy had scored in all of them.

Really tough game. I'd take a point now.

Remember not so long ago we used to get depressed seeing Taylor (amongst a couple others) on the teamsheet. Well I am starting to get that feeling with Wesley....but when Kodjia is the only other option what can you do!

Leicester have gotta slip up soon I think they are feeling the heat and been very fortunate with the last few wins, we can sneak it 2-1 if we are on our game.....'if' being the key word though.

Smith to be outfoxed ( see what I did there?) By Rodgers 2-1 with Vardy and Albrighton scoring for them - consolation goal from a 93rd minute substitute

Thinking back to the away game in Sep 2016, you could say that was the one game which shaped both clubs seasons.

We were 2-0 up through Grealish and Gil, then imploded and lost 3-2. We continued that form, dropping down to the Championship with not so much as a whimper, whilst they went on to win the league, when all the other clubs were trying their hardest to lose it!

You could say that we owe them one... but personally, I can't see it happening. Us 0-3 Them.

Leicester are the Susan Boyle of football. Permanently ignored then one day shock the world and everybody feels delighted for them. A few months later they're all but forgotten again. This run they're currently on is same as Susan Boyle's Greatest Hits release just before Christmas. Only this time not many people are buying it.

A point would be great and I think we’re much tougher opposition at home. Am hoping that Jack gets some protection but teams know that if they stop him then they’re stopping us at the moment.
Think the big man upfront is now a bit of an issue!
