If we have Bernie Gallagher we don't need the rest.

Can we not call it the 'EFL Cup' please.

Agreed.  It's an insult to Carabao.

there’s a good case to put as strong a team out against Wolves tomorrow and try and make it through to the quarterfinals because no matter what team we play against Liverpool we’re most probably going to lose it anyway

I know that’s ‘not the spirit’ but it is the reality

I would go with;

Steer
Targett
Konsa
Engels
Guilbert

Nkamba
Douglas
Hourihane

Trezuguet
Davis
El Ghazi

Interesting you'd take out Mings rather than Engels? Would keep Mings in as Jimenez is good in the air, would give Bjorn a breather instead.

Maybe give Hause a game aswell as he'll know their team better and Targett might pull up with all the games he's playing.

I think Dean quite likes the right foot/left foot combination at centre back so imagine that both Hause and Konsa will come in there. Imagine he will give Taylor a game as well seeing as you could make a case that he didn’t do much wrong before he was dropped.

I actually think he is quite likely to change the whole back five. And I’m not sure Jimenez will start for them will he?

I actually think Wolves will go pretty strong for this.

Their core squad is only about 20 players and I really can't see them playing a bunch of kids like Brighton did in the last round, their fans would be raging.

Looking at their last round at home to Reading which was much easier game they still started Doherty, Bennett, Vinagre (some chips with that please), Ruben Neves, Gibbs-White and Cutrone of their core players. Moutinho and Coady were on the bench.

They're playing a number of kids apparently.

This is from the Express and Star:

Told it's set to be a much-changed team at Villa Park tomorrow night, Taylor Perry and Benny Ashley-Seal among the youngsters who could start. Arsenal away on Saturday and the Carabao is 4th on the priority list.

Mixed views here. One even dared to suggest we had a deeper squad than they do. I imagine that's a lifetime ban for him now!

Should be a comfortable night then like the last round if that happens.

Let’s hope so, then a jammy qtr final draw against one of the minnows getting through and you never know.

I love the League Cup and have been so disappointed with not taking it seriously since the Bradford debacle.

Maybe. I was just thinking it’s their third away game in a row (out of four) and it’s probably their lowest priority competition - I reckon Nuno would want to do well in the Europa.

Fair point that their squad isn’t the biggest, but I reckon their is a reasonable chance that certainly their key players will not be starting. I get the local derby element but I think managers obviously have to look at the bigger picture beyond that.

Anyway, more important what Smith does I think. Feel that he thinks it’s a good way of getting game time to the squad players (keep them happy and fit for if/when they are needed), but wonder if we are at the stage when he might stage to go slightly stronger as they is a reasonable chance of going all the way.
