After that Goal of the Month will be re named Bad Defending of the Month. Wayne ' Einstein ' Rooney thinks that a team 3 points off the top at Christmas is not in the title race, despite already having beaten the teams in 1st and 2nd. Atrocious as a manager, worse as a pundit...and terrible hair 😬

Just watched coverage and it seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

I thought it was fine too, even if it lacked dulcet Salopian and Tír Chonaill tones.

I didn't find his musings overly-controversial. They seem to be rotating guests this season and picked one who is overwhelmingly associated with Villa and one who is mostly known for his time with Man U. Seems sensible enouhh. They were both fine.

The analysis or the highlights? The highlights was fair but the analysis was absolutely ridiculous. I don’t usually care too much about that stuff either.

So both Villa goals, 1 a worldie, were bad defending, as described by Dion. And the Utd goal, which was bad decision making by Cash and a bit of a gift ,was good pressing. Or was I watching a different Motd ?

I think people are looking for a fight in an empty room sometimes. Dublin thinks we are in the title race, Rooney doesn’t, its not that controversial, there are lots on here who reasonably don’t think we’ll win it. Also, they did play ok today and tactically made it difficult for us.

Match of the Day tonight was an absolute disgrace.

1. Firstly, mentioned the goals Rooney and Dublin scored 'for Yanited'. Dublin clearly did more in a Villa shirt than he did in a Man Ure shirt.
2. The edit made it look like we fluked it.
3. Straight into analysing Man Utd even though they lost
4. Damn all analysis of us, or where we stand *fucking third!
5. Rooney's comments about us not being anything special - we have won 15 of our last 17 games, including wins against the teams first and second.

Edit, the sort of 'analysis' by Rooney that makes you wonder if he actually watches any football.

I thought the highlights were a pretty fair reflection of the game really, but agree that starting the analysis with a focus on how improved Manchester United were was a little odd, especially given that Rogers had scored two great goals.

I can't see the same happening if the roles were reversed and they were three points behind the leaders and we were 7th.

I don't think we'll win it either, and I think Colleen Rooney is a wonderful woman. I may as well be Wayne.

We were ropey but won, they showed how Yanited targeted Cash and Konsa.  Fair enough. Then they waxed lyrical about Rogers. Don't care about the England talk but fair enough, it's a programme with mainly Sassenach viewers. Wazza doesn't rate us for the title, fair enough. Dion tried to convince him, good lad. "Chappers" is Yanited but keeps his allegiances in-check. Good job lads.

I dont think we'll win it either, but with 3 clubs 7 points clear of the rest...we are clearly in the title race. Bad defending for the 1st is laughable, the defender was 1 on 1 with Rogers who came in from the touchline, dropped his shoulder and sent the lad for a pie and curled it into the frame of the goal. All of Brazils goals in Mexico 1970 were bad defending on that basis. Motd are normally pretty good, but that was abysmal analysis for me. Sorry.
