No Hasan Ali, Chris Woakes, Sam Hain and, worst of all, Liam Norwell is injured yet again! Fortunately it's not his troublesome back this time, if that's any comfort - but he'll still be out for a few weeks according to Mark Robinson. Also, why has Craig Miles been loaned to Glamorgan when we are short of bowlers, particularly with any pace??

You can’t consider Woakes as a Bear when he has a central contract, he’s effectively not our player and he’s chosen to take IPL riches rather than play for the Bears in April anyway. Miles has been recalled, Hasan Ali arrives this weekend along with another as yet unnamed overseas seamer who’s awaiting international clearance.

Hain will be missed the most and I wish him well.

Notts vs Pears

The annual Notts 4 day scouting game…if Kashif continues his form from last week they’ll no doubt be sniffing round him for next yr

Good start for the Bears today, currently 186/0 with Davies just getting his century (now 101). Yates on 78 at the other end.

Only 35 overs as well so going at a fair clip.

The experiment with the Kookaburra ball isn’t working and is producing some very dull cricket.

The kookaburra is clearly not fit for purpose. Carse, Potts and Boland have all played international cricket and have been completely innocous.

The pitch is also flat but the dukes ball would at least make this a contest between bat and ball

Probables vs Possibles trialist game at Trent Bridge finished in a draw….looks like Notts even tried to sign our waterlogged pitch.

Take the two draws to start the season though…solid and points on the board

Rather predictably ended in a draw but the Bears made a decent fist of trying to get the win.  Think I heard somewhere that Durham's 517 in the 1st innings was the highest ever score for a team that had to then follow on.  Didn't quite catch if that was just in the County Championship or all First Class cricket.

Potentially moving away from New Road?  Perhaps they are planning on moving to Villa Park as we build our new stadium.
Decent start to the season, pleased to see us fight back with ball in hand on day 3.  Shame about the weather. Could have won it.

Think a move is inevitable Steve, you’d think if there was a workable flood defence that it would have been done by now…where to who knows

Very decent start, both games would have been likely result games if not taken by weather…think it’s the only way to stay up risk defeats to get wins.

Smith looks a very decent overseas recruit…one up on last season :-)
