Warwickshire qualify for the semi-finals of the One Day Cup beating Northants by 24 runs in a 10 over per side thrash.

Warwickshire scored 104/3 batting first and then restricted Northants to 80/6.

Bears have been able to field a pretty strong and consistent side throughout the competition so far.

It was an enjoyable match at Edgbaston yesterday, 675 runs in 100 overs and 16 wickets. Bedingham had a good knock for Durham and Ed Barnard scored an impressive 161 and when he got out in the 47th over it was going to be a big ask for the tail to get those remaining 14 runs.

Losing by 1 run was frustrating but all in all it was a good days Cricket.

One criticism was the amount of scoop shots that Barnard attempted and failed to execute thus costing us several balls. The impact of this was offset by the number of wides and no balls that Durham gifted us, 6 no balls and 15 wides.

Great to see Pears score when got home from us battering Everton…huge upturn on one day cup form this year…no doubt helped by only losing Hose to the garbage comp :-) might turn out a decent season in the pitch, shame the rebuild has to begin again.

Also good to see Barney getting in the runs for you guys, long been convinced that he will eventually be a batsman who can bowl a few overs (Collingwood style but a bit quicker lol) rather than a bowler who gets a few runs.

KSB was injured, so couldn’t play in what was due to be her last game and has therefore now retired from cricket. She’s been pretty good on commentary, so it’ll be interesting if she does more of that.

Sad to read of the death of Heath Streak, I remember his Bears debut when he took 13 wickets in a championship game against Northants. He was always a whole-hearted cricketer and although he took the book makers shilling and was banned for several years in 2021, 49 is a very young age to die.

RIP Heath, once a Bear, always a Bear.

Strange one this. Looked up Heath Streak and Wikipedia and the Guardian are amongst those saying he has died, but there is another article stating that he is very much alive and has been texting Henry Olonga.

Strange that it was Olonga who tweeted - is that now X’d? - that Streak was dead and has now said he’s alive.

he is certainly alive and although not well he is recovering from cancer of the colon which was diagnosed back in May.

Not sure what the wicket is like, but the Bears are shitting the bed in the latter stages of a cup competition again.  91/8 against Hampshire in the One Day Cup semi final.

Yeah so good in the group stages of one day comps and then utter garbage in the knockouts and with home advantage each time.

Nightmare. Two one day competitions; two capitulations once the knock-out round came along.

You must really hate them if Yorkshire aren't in the top 4?!
