Strike me as a team going through the motions - cant get relegated in the 4 day game, cant be bothered in the T20 as no crowds. Nor can I see any promising youngsters coming through consistently, plus theres too many waiting to retire.

What a shame the Bears game survived the weather Out batted, out bowled and out fielded two nights running by the likes of Northampton and Gloucester has been painful to watch .This season is turning into a nightmare

Dan Mousley made his T20 debut last night. He’s tipped for great things with bat and ball and supports the Villa too.

An ode to Slazenger

I was a V12 man myself

https://www.thecricketer.com/Topics/banner/sad_demise_slazenger_cricket_bat.html
I had a Newbery.  Fuck knows why because when I was a kid the only England player who used them was Fat Gatt.

I had a couple of these when I used to play. They were brilliant bats.

I played a game a couple of years ago, and used my old Newbery (it must have been almost 20 yrs old). It still had a really decent middle.

I loved that bat.

I’m going to suggest that Pears will be on the end of a heavier defeat than you guys last night chasing 229 on the same pitch - yikes!  Couldn’t land it on the strip at some points

Troughton out of his depth.  I always thought that was an appointment on sentiment.  I had a Stuart Surridge bat.  And made one myself.

I think Warwickshire are in a bit of a transitional phase, although it does seem to be lasting a while. They have struggled pretty badly with injuries, and recent recruitment has been mixed.

Stone, Rhodes and Sibley have been positives, Burgess, Norwell Hose and Miles haven’t really set the world alight. It is a shame they missed out on Bess, and Overton would also have improved the side.

Bell has announced he’s retiring at the end of the season. I’m not surprised but he’s been a great servant to England and the Bears.

Maybe deserved it's own thread.
Magnificent player, Top ten in England International runs, Top 2 in ODI.
Warwickshire player  of the generation,
One of the most stylish batsmen in the world.

Players get shots named after them the dilshan ramp etc.
But the cover drive belongs to Ian Bell

Belly 37 not out at lunch.  Seems most of the country would like him to get a ton in his final first class match.
