Bloke behind me yesterday screamed 'stab 'em in the throat!' when we were taking the game to them just after HT.  Whilst the use of words was slightly unfortunate, the principle remains - we need to punish teams for their errors, but time after time we are more likely to perform like we owe them a favour.  In other words, we need to grow a pair.

We were all over them at the start of the 2nd half.

This is true but as someone previously pointed out our players seem to go into some kind of "limp mode" in these situations when given clear cut goal scoring chances. Trez and El Ghazi both had golden chances spoiled by a piss poor attempt straight at the keeper. It seems like a theme when we have superior numbers.  All huff and puff to get chances but we lack a ruthless streak to put teams to the sword. It's so frustrating.

1 nil up, Arsenal down to 10 in first half- lose.

0-0 v West Ham with 25 minutes left, stays 0-0.

WBA. Brunt off and we have whole of extra time to score a goal. Can't and luckily we take better penalties so it's all forgotten.

Forest 5-5. Were 5-4 up I think when Forest had guy sent off, couldn't hold onto the lead.

Play off final- Fulham down to ten men for last 25 minutes, can't score and nearly go out of business as a result.

Home to Boro 17/18- Adama sent off after three minutes, finishes 0-0.

11/12, last home game of McLeish. 1 up v Spurs and Danny Rose sent off for lunge. We spent rest of match camped near our own box and are clinging onto 1-1.

Man. United, home in Feb 2010. Nani sent off after 20 minutes, remains 1-1 and they looked more likely to win that game.

Sure there's a few other examples I can't recall at this point in last decade when we've had decent chunk of game v top 10 and haven't won.

Worst thing for me is we have players with pace and skill which is what you need to keep ball v 10 men but seems we go to pot constantly under so many different managers when the game is there to be won.

I thought Monday night in last 20 v West Ham was schoolboy stuff of just charging into the middle of pitch at every opportunity but this today might've been even worse particularly as the manager had options to change it and get us over the line.

I’m impressed you can remember all this!

In all the years I've been watching the Villa I can't recall a single time we've battered the opposition if they've had a player sent off. Although, I'm pretty sure we must have at some point since the 70's

What do you think would happen, if the oppo were down to 9 men?
This could have happened vs West spam if noble had got his 2nd yellow for simulation. Didn't it happen vs newcastle some time ago and if so, did we win the game, I can't remember?

On the flipside, we go down to 10 and we're often hopeless.

The exception being Rotherham which was an iconic performance.

Newcastle finished with 8 in that game with the Bowyer and Dyer fight. Was right at the end and we were already 3-0 up though.

A side can go down to 7 players and the game carries on. The Battle of Bramall Lane was abandoned when Sheff Utd went down to 6 players.

Hate to say it but Sunday made me think of that game and the fact that this season we're Rotherham and Arsenal are us. If that makes any sense.

Against Sunderland in 2013 in the 6-1 battering? Although weren’t we already 5-1 up?

Against Forest we were 4-3 down at the time of the sending-off.

We're getting even worse.

Opponents who are below us down to 10 and they shouldn't be getting within 10 yards of our box. Instead we concede a penalty within five minutes and then crumble.

With likes of Mings out this team has no personality.
