Pretty even, though we had the better chance. Need better from our wide men, though with Jota cutting inside works well for Freddy. Wesley needs to hold it up better to help Jack and McGinn further up the pitch.

So. Question. Var will check if penalty,  but if dive? They can't use to book??

Correct, a dive isn't something VAR is used for, apart from if a penalty challenge is reviewed by VAR they can say no pen but there won't be a booking for the dive.

I thought we did okay. We should be beating teams like West Ham.

Thankfully VAR is pretty useless otherwise we'd be down to 10.

For me, shows why the formation (again) is wrong. We need to get a gold of midfield and that means 2 strong DM (Marvelous +) instead of the luxury of 2 players (AEG/Jota) who flit about not offering much in midfield.

I really hope Dean sees this soon because it could make a huge difference to our season especially against the better, more established PL sides.

Centre backs look good, Heaton nothing to do really. Tragically bad down the left, Jota slow and lightweight but can pick a pass. Guilbert really creative for a fullback but gets caught high up the pitch on occasion. McGinn and Nakamba look good and Nakamba already looks more solid in defensive mid than Douglas or Connor. They just need to play the sensible ball at times rather than taking a risk trying to break us away ending up giving it back to the opposition. Grealish not doing a fat lot, he's a player that needs his space to thrive which he won't get in the PL. Wesley doing as well as can be expected up there on his own apart from some iffy finishing. Love to see him with a partner.
Sub suggestion: Douglas for El Ghazi with Grealish going left and Douglas attacking midfield.

We're normally down to 10 when El Ghazi plays. He hasn't been too bad so far.

I think the fact that WH are further in their development than Villa is evident from the smoothness which they go forward but we are seeing some good breaks of our own and have probably looked more like actually scoring.

I quite enjoyed that...It wasn't stressful anyway.

I think we need two up front, and Hourihane on for Jota.
Anytime we're not 3 up with 5 minutes left is stressful mate.

Very true, mate!

We look not very good really. Agree that we're probably set up to play the wrong way, we need to be unlocking players like SJM and Grealish, not AEG and Jota who are bang average for me.
