Not some obscure player we’ve not heard of but here’s the obligatory YouTube anyway. Some absolutely stunning saves.

The announcement of a new keeper has taken A Little Time but with all the good options I'm sure we'd have found a Song For Whoever we had signed.

Very very good.

Inevitable first shit AVTV interview question

“So Tom, you’re swapping the claret and blue of Burnley for the claret and blue of Aston Villa. How does that feel?”

I hope he answers with "I never played in claret and blue, I'm the bloody goalkeeper!"

The save from Rondon at about 3:15 in that video is as good as a save as I've ever seen in 40 years of watching football. Magnificent.

Is he related to Paul Heaton?

Yes, his nickname is 'Happy Hour' Heaton and his signing is something we can 'Build' on.
I gotta praise.

I think we're signing the best goalkeeper that we possibly could. I like Butland too, and it would have been nice to sign someone to potentially be our Number 1 for 10+ years, but at this stage I honestly believe that Heaton is a safer pair of hands.

Also, I know that Premier League experience isn't the be-all and end-all, but it is nice to have at least one 'shoe-in' for the first XI who's been there and done it.

He's quality, and his age could actually be a positive thing, given we have some relative youngsters at the back with little or no top flight previous.

Having an experienced head behind them might prove crucial.

That last one was equal if not better than the Banks / Pele one

As an aside the great cross that came in  - was that our Targett?  Great cross if so

I still think the save by Brad from Samba was amongst the best I have ever seen but Heaton for a big man is really strong and gets down very quickly. Burnley fans speak glowingly of two games from last season in particular; Brighton and Man U away that he literally was that keeper literally being a wall.
