I enjoyed  meeting  you in Bremen VCTM. Sorry you can't make it to Leipzig.

Don’t think we have ever met VCTM, but sorry you can’t make the trip to Leipzig. Hope things are on the up for you soon.

I am fortunate enough to be flying out to Berlin tomorrow, then making my way to Leipzig on Saturday for the game. This will be my first overseas trip with AVFC since Paderborn/Bochum a number of years ago. That was a great trip, and I am sure that Leipzig will be equally as good. Really looking forward to it.

Btw if anyone happens to know the names of any Leipzig pubs/bars where the Villa fans are likely to be drinking pre/post match, I would be grateful for any info.

Likewise Frank - jnr  still talks about it - he made a small fortune collecting empty glasses and getting the 1€ deposit back on each .....as they say " you can take the boy out of Liverpool but you can't take Liverpool etc .....
I've still got photos on my phone of that brilliant day - it was fun all the German Villains too
Have a blast Frank - regards VCTM and jnr

Kildare Irish pub looks a favourite with fans already there posting on Twitter. Hope this helps. Enjoy, I’m very jealous.

There’s 2 great places if you like brew houses and beer garden food.

The first one is the Thomaskircher Brauhaus. Probably a 20 minute walk from the stadium. Normally some seating outside. Just outside the Thomaskircher in the main town:

http://www.brauhaus-thomaskirche.de/

The second is the Bayerischer Bahnhof. An old converted railway station now with a top restaurant and a beer garden.

https://www.bayerischer-bahnhof.de/en

Both of which brew their own beer and are responsible for quite significant hangovers during the many weekends I spend out there.

Of course, there’s a usual selection of Irish bars and other places. Just watch out for the Russians. One of our guys was beaten to an inch of his life for just being in the wrong place last year... he’s subsequently never flown again and lost his medical for good. They are few and far between but there are some pretty scary gangs out there.

Food wise... depends what you’re after. There’s the usual selection of Vapiano and Burger Bars over town including Peter Pan and Hans Im Gluck. There’s a curry house called the Indian Crown but it’s quite upmarket... there’s a couple of others but those who’ve been there advised against it!

If you find yourself with a morning and fancy some culture, I recommend the Volkerdenksmal. It’s a huge memorial just outside the town with great views out. And 500 odd steps to the top.

Finally, if anyone is in the Penta Hotel - I’ll be in around midnight on the Saturday night if anyone fancies a beer or two? The bar is open 24 hours a day and there’s usually a DHL air crew sat around until 5am. And take a pillow. The pillows in this hotel are beyond crap... if you’re booked In there, you’ll see what I mean!

And if you like live music, Tivoli regularly has blues bands on until 3am-4am. Costs about 10 Euros to get in but is pretty decent in there!

Hope this helps someone!

Sorry to keep on badgering this thread, I keep on thinking of things (being distracted by a toddler doesn’t help!)

And one last thing... there’s the big tower in the main square. It costs a couple of Euros to get to the very top in a lift... but the views are incredible and there’s an outside bar on the top at the viewing area. It is worth doing for a beer with a view.

If anyone has any questions on the city please let me know. I spend most weekends out there with work at the moment. It’s like a second home!

You’re very welcome. It’s a nice city, I like it there. Lots of green space and miles of cycle ways. If you get a bike, within 6/7 miles of the city centre, you can end up on the Cospruder See and Zwenkauer See. To do the both is about a 30 mile round trip but there’s a lot of beach bars and tiki bars on the way around. One word of warning. It’s very German.

You will see things you don’t want to see. And they will scar you... unless a slightly large, naked, hairy German granny is your thing!

As I said, i’m Missing it today but on a flight out from East Midlands at 9pm tonight. I’ll be in the Penta Hotel from around midnight local if anyone is still awake and fancies a beer.
