I think Nakamba is certainly worth £5-10m to Luton. He was their best player last season and has a couple of years experience in the Premier league. Didn’t we pay close to £20m when he had no track record in a decent league.

Good luck to him anyway, a thoroughly nice bloke who always did his best and often played well for us.

Where are you getting £20m from? It was reported as around £9-10m at the time.

£4-5m seems fair to me and would be a small gain in terms of ffp.

Only going off memory so sounds like I’m wrong. I still think he is worth more than is being mooted as a fee though.

£5m is a joke. He's worth £10-15 even with 12 months left, considering his performances in a promoted side, has held his own in the prem and is generally pretty reliable.

What a strange career Nakamba had at Villa. Came in just after promotion, when we had that huge turnover in players, so it was always going to be tough and he had to adapt to the PL. I think he kind of goes under the radar, he'll not score goals, probably hardly touch the ball in the final third, he just does the simple stuff breaking up play etc. His best run came under Gerrard imo, at the end of 21, then he got the serious knee injury, thus effectively ending his time at Villa. Certainly worth a lot more than just a 'nominal' fee.

The problem is that if Luton are the only club in for him or the only club he's interested in going to and they won't pay that kind of money, what do we do? He's otherwise going to lose us about £2.5m plus his wages this season. If we sold him for £2-3m, it may be below what we could get in an ideal world, but it's still a better deal than him doing nothing with us for a year and still costing us the best part of £5m.

As others have pointed out previously. We didn't lose many whenever he played.

Like others, I have always rated Marvelous but understand his need to move on. Have a feeling Luton will struggle this year but Marv will be the shining light.

Because of contract position, sell for around 10 million but include a massive 'sell on' clause. There could be a scramble for his signature at end of next season.

I really can't see us getting that much, but I'd be happy if we did.

Saying that, I laughed at everyone saying we should charge £10-20m for Chukwuemeka!

I laughed even more when Chelsea paid it.

I think we paid £8m for Nakamba from memory. It would be nice to recoup that money if he's being moved on.

Most of that £8m will have been amortised over the course of his contract.

We need 25% to avoid making a loss in terms of FFP given he's seen out 3 of the 4 years of his contract. Anything over £2-2.5m is profit on that so we'd be silly to let him go for less than that.

Quite like what Luton are doing, they aren’t going mad and you’d suspect they’ll bank a lot of the tv money to pay for their new ground.  If Marv says that’s where he wants to go or no one has shown interest it’ll be a small fee, perhaps 2/3m? with a sell on clause interjected

Luton have already asked for their 1st home game to be postponed as the ground works wont have been completed . I think they will do the bare minimum and spend as liitle as possible both on the ground and players and try and keep as much money as possible

Can't see them financially endangering themselves in a bid to stay up. With parachute money, they could be in really good shape by the time they move to a bigger ground.

Not quite. Assuming he's on £20k per week, that's a million in wages saved as well so anything north of £1m is FFP profit

Local rumour here in Bedfordshire is that the deal is done and Marvelous will be named as a Luton player tomorrow or Friday. Fee will probably not be disclosed.

Really pleased for him, he seems a humble guy and does a lot of good, he deserves to be somewhere he can play and where they love him.
