sounds like he is going to luton permanently.

nominal fee involved as he is in the final year of his contract.

Nominal? Fuck that! They wouldn't have got promoted without him. Make them pay!

Yeah, I reckon £5m (plus sell on clause) is justified as that’d be a profit in FFP terms yet a decent fee for Luton.

I hope the deal is done so that he gets a good contract. A lot of what he earns goes to charitable causes.

Good luck to him if true. Where did that information come from?

Can’t imagine we’ll be getting more than 1-2m for him based on the contract. Good luck to him - worked out pretty well given he could have ended up retiring from football and playing for Tesco bags a year ago.

Nakamba was fantastic for luton, many of their fans had him as player of the season. As our club are now fully commercial and happy to play hard with its own supporters, I hope they equally play hard ball with player exit fees . £5m or do one .

Even £5m is a ridiculously low fee for a player deemed to be good enough by Luton to play in the Premier League. Good luck to him anyway. He did a job for us in his limited way, even as a stand out performer under Gerrard.

I think Nakamba is certainly worth £5-10m to Luton. He was their best player last season and has a couple of years experience in the Premier league. Didn’t we pay close to £20m when he had no track record in a decent league.

Good luck to him anyway, a thoroughly nice bloke who always did his best and often played well for us.

£5m is a joke. He's worth £10-15 even with 12 months left, considering his performances in a promoted side, has held his own in the prem and is generally pretty reliable.

The sticking point was his wages, so whether we have agreed a compromise to make it doable for them, I don’t know.

If no one else was in for him or he was adamant that’s the only club he wanted, then I can see us having cut our losses.

Where are you getting £20m from? It was reported as around £9-10m at the time.

£4-5m seems fair to me and would be a small gain in terms of ffp.

I agree £5m is too low and I don't think we should be doing Luton any favours . Sounds like they are playing the sympathy card

What a strange career Nakamba had at Villa. Came in just after promotion, when we had that huge turnover in players, so it was always going to be tough and he had to adapt to the PL. I think he kind of goes under the radar, he'll not score goals, probably hardly touch the ball in the final third, he just does the simple stuff breaking up play etc. His best run came under Gerrard imo, at the end of 21, then he got the serious knee injury, thus effectively ending his time at Villa. Certainly worth a lot more than just a 'nominal' fee.
