I said in the pre season games he reminded me of Mellberg. He played like Mellberg in his pomp today.

Get Targett and Guilbert either side of the Engels/Mings/Heaton trio thats some good potential defence we got.

My neighbour (Anfield season card holder)
Are we supposed to be impressed with the opinions of someone with these credentials? ;-)

I'll let someone else go first...

A fantastic maiden appearance.

He was excellent today.  Seems to have a good understanding with Tyrone already.

The defence was pretty good today.  Engles is a very decent defender and will form a really good partnership with the Emperor.

I thought he was excellent, different player from Mellberg IMO as calm in possession

Engels Mings has the makings of a pairing that could last for a long time to come
Both quality players

I thought Engles was the best of the two today

I didn't, I thought Mings was absolutely immense.  Engels was very good, but Tyrone was brilliant.

It’s probably a good thing that they were both good and we have a split decision on the winner

Yep, I don't think we have much to worry about in central defence for a while.  Heaton was excellent too.

Both of them were class. They didn't deserve to be part of a defence that conceded three. Neither did Heaton.
