I bought, or at least I hope I bought the Peter Morris book on Amazon today. The title just states "Aston Villa" with an accompanying picture, see below. For anyone who has the book in question, does it look anything like this admittedly crappy picture? I figured for less than a tenner it was worth the gamble. Hope it's not falling to bits...

It forms the basis of The First Hundred Years, and you should know my opinion of that book by now.

Eamonn, yes looks very similar to the one on my bookshelf which my uncle ‘leant’ to me when I was a kid.

Check the copyright page. 100 Years I assume was published in 1974.

He also did this one which is just 'Aston Villa' which should be copyright 1961 (I think)

It could be that there was a book club edition and a 'proper' one.

That's the cover of the 1961 one. Take that off and it looks like Eamonn's.

Ok, as far as I can tell from a bit of digging this is 1 edition as both people that posted pics did the publisher as Sportsman Book Club.

Then there's this which is Naldrett Press / Heinemann, but whether 1 is book club and one 'proper' publisher i'm not sure.

And First 100 Years was published by the Villa I think. Nearly all my Villa books are boxed away so can't look it up any other way.

The original is Naldrett Press, 100 Years was published by Villa. The latter has "First published 1960 by" at the front.

100 Years in 1960? I think you meant former.
