I’ve been in denial until today as theoretically I liked the idea of going up. But when you are confronted with the harsh reality of the fixtures, god, it’s going to be a miserable grind to pick up enough points to survive. I have to confess I rather enjoyed the second division.

Bizarre, first and last games of season at new stadiums 🏟

Not for me, been to see Depeche Mode and the Foo Fighters at West Ham's ground and the rugby world cup!!

We might struggle to beat Wolves away.

Look on the bright side Fred, if it's as difficult as you think the worst that can happen will be we'll end up back there, and you can enjoy it again.

First five home games are Bournemouth, Everton, West Ham, Burnley and Brighton.  I reckon we need to pick up a fair few points from those and we'll be ok.

When you look at the names we have to play then it's doesn't seem that bad at all. Bournemouth, Palace, Burnley, West Ham, Norwich, Brighton... hardly the big boys of world football...

I think it's a good start. I'm not over awed or intimidated by it and I dont know why anybody would be.

We've been here before for generations on end. We need to improve the quality of the squad and it's going to be hard work, but I have more confidence in us off the pitch to get it right recruitment wise, than I have had in a while.

I think this is the issue with the top flight. There are 12 matches which are free hits and anything we get is a bonus. Whereas in the Championship every match was winnable.

Different mindset.

We need to scoop up points early in the winnable matches or we'll struggle.

I'm more optimistic about this Premier League season than any one since 2009/10... just the 10 years of purgatory then.
