Intriguing wording “front of shirt” partner......
A betting company with 8s in the name sponsoring a football team. So original.

It's up to the individual Muslim, I think. I seem to recall Kanoute didn't like it when he was at Sevilla and wanted to put black masking tape over the sponsor. They eventually won him round by agreeing to donate part of the proceeds to a charity of his choice.

I seem to remember a Newcastle player refusing to wear a Wonga shirt because money lending is also haram. I can’t see why betting, alcohol and tobacco can’t all be banned as sponsors. My boy didn’t understand why his Villa shirt didn’t have the sponsor on when his mates’ teams do. I tried to explain that gambling isn’t great without making it look like Villa were supporting something bad. Then I told him, ‘if we get promoted, we can get a better sponsor ‘. Better as in more cash, undoubtedly. Morally, nope. I drink alcohol responsibly and it’s one of my favourite things, but I know that for lots of people it’s a health and social disaster so I don’t think it should be on our shirts. Likewise, gambling is harmless fun to loads but To many others, most of them the more disadvantaged, it’s devastating. Can someone help me down from my soapbox, I’m a bit pissed.
