I am glad we’ve got a friendly in Leipzig. With work, I spend a lot of time out there with work and it’s a bit of a hidden secret of Germany. RB Leipzig remains controversial within Germany, but I wouldn’t let it put you off. The city is full of parks, home breweries and cheapish beer. The downside is that it’s tricky to get to. As my company have found out - we can only get out on the freighter jumpseat directly. There’s a flight every other day from Stansted with Ryanair. Hotel wise, there’s plenty of options. We normally stay in either the Penta or the Marriott though. The Westin is used by our sister companies though. If anyone wants any info into the city, please let me know. Chris

Leipzig is the nearest city to Colditz Castle. I can feel a "two birds with one stone" trip coming on.

My company do guided tours of the castle and I'll be there with a group next Sunday. But public transport from Leipzig to Colditz isn't straightforward. There's no station at Colditz. Hiring a car might be easier.
There are indeed... and I work for DHL nowadays. So with any luck, I’ll be out there for the day. A perk of being a Freight pilot now...Indeed there were direct Ryanair flights from Stansted. We have had to use them sometimes when the jump seats are full. However I’ve just checked and they appear to not be bookable now.
That's a difficult one! Personally I think it's good that Saxony, in the old East Germany, finally has a top-flight team, but RB are generally disliked because their set-up contradicts the basic principles of the Bundesliga. I fear that some of the German Villans will boycott our game in Leipzig because they won't pay money to Red Bull. Bayern, on the other hand, are disliked because they keep on winning things. Their Munich stadium, the Allianz Arena, is nicknamed the Arroganz Arena. As I've said in H&V articles in the past, Villa picked up a lot of German supporters in 1982 when we beat the hugely unpopular West German champions, Bayern Munich, to win the European Cup.

I like Germany very much but won't be travelling to this event.
