A bit surprised Deano didn't keep Whelan on as an old-head for another season. They really are committed to bringing the age of the squad down, good to see it isn't just talk.

That has to be around £250k a week in wages off the books in total - £13m over a year. Incredible.

As Bunn, Richards and De Laet didn't play at all while Jedinak, Elphick and Hutton were bit-part players by the end of the season, that money can certainly be put to better use.

Now to offload the contracted players who don't really contribute such as Bjarnesson, Angela and Fat Ross and we really will be in much better shape financially.
