We'd played in black before we'd ever played in claret and blue.

I've said this before and I can't remember the exact words, but someone once wrote about how the Premier League had been uniquely successful in persuading supporters that it was their duty to hand over money to their club. Put that together with gambling's insatiable greed and you have a dangerous formula.

I agree. An example was with Covid, when lots of people seemed prepared to let the club keep what was left.

Which leads me onto that great unfathomable from a few years ago: "I'd rather buy it from the Villa Village so the club gets the extra," even when Villa are charging an extra five quid more than Sports Direct, or whoever. In effect they were donating £5 to a multi-million pound business.

Fair point. Is that what it's a nod to, I wonder.

I'm generally always happy with away or change kits so long as they aren't yellow; be they white, sky blue, grey, torquiose, green, or indeed black

Anything but fucking yellow

Agree with this but prefer white with claret shorts, light blue or mostly black for the away kits. I liked the recent black Unibet kit but always thought the claret band should have been the background to the sponsor logo leaving the badge and UA logo uncluttered on the main part of the shirt.

it's definitely black with narrow claret pin stripes.

Fair enough. I regularly have a contretemps with the other half about the colour of garments. I can't believe that the Villa, and the posters of H&V, suffer the same warped perception as she does!

Can’t wait for the 3rd kit now. Will it be a full house of lovely looking kits?
Heard a rumour for grey!

We're friends with a couple who just bought a new house and they're decorating it currently. Both colourblind. Have been privy to some very entertaining conversations.

I think the suggestion was it was a rather horrendous grey/white camouflage design, like something you’d wear to invade Finland.
