I thought they mayve changed the badge/rebranded this close season now we are back in the Prem.
The current  badge marks 10 yrs of decline.

Wouldn't go back to the 80s badge tho .

It’s also the badge that we had when the new owners arrived, when Dean Smith was appointed, when we got promoted back to the PL. So it’s redeemed itself in that regard and to be honest it’s not really a big deal.

Well, as this is the new kit thread, the badge is a relatively big deal. I don't mind the current one except for the way it looks like the lion is burping the star, the fact that the lion is too fat and the lack of "Aston Villa Football Club".

Actually, that's quite a few complaints.

Get the bloody round badge back!

I associate the "new" badge with Lerner. That's why I hate it.

Same. I could tolerate it if the star was removed and Aston Villa was written on it but not as it is, I think it's awful.

The lion and star are fine for me, but it's past time for 'AVFC' to go. It needs to say Aston Villa again.

Wouldn't mind it being round but I can take or leave shape if it sends out the right message.

If you join the claret membership you get a pin badge that is round using the current Lion, something along those lines would be great, and ditch the star.

The Lion emblem looks good in my opinion, and now that it's plastered everywhere Villa related I'd say it's here to stay.

Agree with you that would look good. I'd move the star to the bottom and put the wording ASTON VILLA FC in the top of the circle border.

Does anyone know what's going on with the badge? When Xia came in it was said that he was going to change the Lerner badge and here we are over three years later and no sign of a change. And I know it might not be a priority at the moment but it's not as if it'd be that difficult to do, and we are pretty much all in agreement as fans that we want the 80s one back so it'd be a popular move. Would have been great once promotion had been confirmed, new era, new badge.

Didn’t the lion get amended a few years ago to make it a bit more “fierce”?

The star is there for a reason, though.
Ditch the star and you're just doing what Deadly did by removing part of our history.

I agree with robbo with the mono version, only with Aston Villa instead of AVFC.

We shouldn't be. It should be above the badge though, not looking like it has just been belched by the lion.

Dropping the Aston Villa name from our official crest was one of the most rediculous decisions ever

we have the greatest most unique name in world football, it sounds fantastic

one of the worlds greatest actors was recently saying that he supports the Villa because he fell in love with the name first
it has that kind of power
so what do we do....remove it

I think it will return one day hopefully not to long

It feels like it has been forced into the current badge.

I'm all for having it above the badge though, maybe even saving it for our return to entering the European Cup after we win the league
