18 shots at goal, we only scored 3.

Impressive but more importantly, 5 on target against the Great Wall of China. We were clinical, something that with every game against better opposition becomes more important. Practice makes perfect. More importantly, I get the feeling Smith is getting his message across, there's not only competition for places, there's also desire to have the shirt.

Timing is everything and I honestly believe we're bang on. The Villa Park fans too seem to be more proactive rather than waiting for us to just turn up and beat the opposition. It's starting to look very 1975.

It's in no small part down to the signing of Mings. Colossus.

Mings and McGinn are two players we so desperately needed. Loved listening to Smith pre-match talking about Mings; he'd known all about him but more importantly, knew he'd do the job despite coming back from an injury. Oh and the fact Jack gave the armband to Mings despite there being no plan to who it went to should there be no Hutton.

A team of captains has always been Smith's philosophy.

That was far too easy. McGinn and Whelan were very good. Pulis needs to drop down a league to accomodate his 6ft 9 players, his one up front and his one player who can throw the ball really long.

Sometimes Villa infuriate the fuck out of me. Sometimes they bring a tear to my eye and take me to a place where it just makes me so happy. If we can make the place offs then anything is possible.  For all the shit and bravado Smethwick come out with they will secretly be dreading  coming up against us. Come on villa. Fuck the fuckers I love  you.

I have a feeling that we'll get Albion in the playoff semis. Not scared.

Definitely not scared of them. Would prefer them to Sheff Utd or Leeds, who I'd rather play in a one off Final.
Plus a Villa Albion final might not be all that pleasant a day out tbf

Good news about Conor. Became a dad last night and got the game off.

Another assist.

Superb delivery.
Delivered deep, right in the gap between the hole....or fucked her fucking fanny off!

At least we know he didn't punch his own cock asking why it won't work. But whose wee smells of Rice Krispies?

...Davis who looked ponderous.

Steady on, he's been out injured forever and is finding his feet again (yeah I know, on the end of his legs, same as before); he was only on for about eight seconds, and it was his shot that set it up for Adomah.

I thought we looked great. Whelan, Taylor and Elmohamady did well. I've given all thre nothing but stick, so am overjoyed to be gorging on humble pie.

Well done, Villa!

Albert seemed very subdued after scoring - was it just respect for a former club?
