I buy the Sun occasionally. And I will continue to do so.

I think its hypocrisy if you watch Sky Sports and rant on about this topic as they are companies ultimately owned by the same individuals. Your money goes to the same corporation does it not?

Its also a private newspaper nobody is forced to buy unless they choose to consume its content. I am sure some people enjoy reading the Guardian. Despite me thinking its an atrocious left wing rag I am not trying to stop people buying it (small pool to fish from anyway).

As for J421. I have supported them with money, vigils and met the familes over the last 5 years ago and I have supported them ever since and will continue to do so. Very brave people who I hope they get the justice they are fighting for.

Had a quick search and I’m guessing it is because of the Julie Burchill business from the early noughties. I’m assuming he never looks at the Daily Mail and the Sun as well for similar reasons. And also stopped watching Jeremy Clarkson after the producer incident.

Exactly but apparently it was just a bit of iconoclastic polemic according to The Guardian. Isn't that what that Tommy Robinson fella indulges in?

The fact that they would employ someone of her ilk says it all
https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/columnists/archive/julie-burchill/julie-burchill-irish-nationalism-about-as-radical-as-islam-28573094.html

Still at it

I don't buy any of the tabloids but as a Tory supporter would add The Mirror to the avoid list. The only paper I've bought on a habitual basis was The Independent around 1990 before its decline.

The online version is now an absolute disgrace.  Horrible click bait propaganda machine.

I used to read it especially on a Sunday but I gave up about 12 months ago because it had become awful.

I've stopped buying it any idea of a decent morning paper to buy instead ?

I like i. It's fairly unbiased and full of news with not too much opinion.

Meanwhile, my take on today's chip paper.

Never bought a copy of that rag and never will. Heinous newspaper with bigoted "journalists"
I was working in Liverpool in 2006 and went in to the nearest newsagents for some Rizlas. One of the young lads off the job asked in all innocence "have you sold out of the Sun as there's non on the rack" The look on his face when an old boy in the queue told him to "fuck off pal" was unforgettable. To be fair to the lad he was born in 1987 and wasn't aware of the offence he'd caused. Humour can be found in the most unexpected places and circumstances.

I think you are at an age now where you need reading glasses ;) I found, a few years ago, that reading the sunday papers was awfully painful so I gave up. That was until I had some  corrective glasses and hey presto reading was much easier again however  reading Mail On Sunday was still painful.

I haven’t bought a paper for few years now but I know the difference between a slightly annoying, fulll of itself paper like the Guardian and a nasty, lying rag like the Sun, which accused football fans of pissing on dead bodies and robbing from corpses. Don’t buy it, don’t click on it  would be my advice.

Last time I read read the Sun was about 5 years ago, when I was on my own in a pub waiting for my mates, and somebody had left the paper on a table. Think it took me about 2 minutes to read it from front to back, the paper's absolutely crap. The depressing thing is it's still the country's most popular paper.

The Sun's ownership isn't the problem. Its content is the problem. Ask Rita Taylor.

And yet you're happy to buy a paper that denigrates them and undermines their cause, the same paper that's vilified you as a football supporter and insulted a Villa legend. Even with that knowledge you've got no problem buying it. I wouldn't have thought you'd need to be told not to.

VCTM Jnr , now aged 18 ,recently let on to me that he had been doing Brian Greens` trick of hiding the Scum for years - ie covering with another paper whenever he went in a newsagent or supermarket away from our Merseyside home - you still don't still it sold very often in these parts - sometimes a change of shop owner/keeper sees a reappearance of the rag but that is usually remedied when the new owner learns of the reasons for locals shunning the "paper"
