how likely is it that they will face punitive action? Is a points deduction a certainty - or is a fine more likely?. They were disgraced today by a thug believing himself to be a Peaky Blinder.

Games played behind closed doors would be my guess.  Has to be a deterrent, both for clubs and fans.

But they do that every week bar when they play us!

I refuse to talk about the mindless idiot who took a pot shot at Grealish.  Just hope serious action is taken against him and a proper ban from going to football.

I'm really pleased with the win.  I was worried that after the high of last week we may revert back to our inconsistent form and that this had 0-0 written all over it.  It's promising that we are starting to show signs of tightening up at the back.  Timing is everything.  It may turned out that we've got Jack back in form at the right time.

Feels like a massive week with the games against Forest and Boro.  Could go a long way to deciding our season.

Quote
Aston Villa Football Club is appalled by the disgraceful attack on Jack Grealish during today’s game.

A red line has been crossed by this cowardly on-field assault on a player, which is unprecedented in English football.

We trust the perpetrator will feel the full force of the law and the authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding today’s deplorable incident.

Local rivalries are part of the fabric of the game however, as we are sure our friends at Birmingham City would agree, to have a player’s personal safety placed under such jeopardy is a serious cause for concern for the entire football community.

Tremendous performance amid awful provocation on and off the pitch. I won’t fault any one of them today.

Its really fortunate for Jack that the bloke is not just a coward but a complete limp wristed wimp, another bloke with some poundage and strength, catching somebody unawares, could have caused untold damage, severe concussion, brian damage, plus, to the side like that, mandibular damage, Jack's a lucky lad really.

Yes. There is a very, very serious side to what could have happened had the rag connected properly or had it been someone bigger. Getting punched from behind when you are not aware usually has terrible consequences.

To true, the very second a boxer turns in a fight, away from his opponent the fight is stopped or should be stopped, Jack will be having scans, checking his vision all kinds of stuff, as said this toad offered no real strength, another bloke could have poleaxed Jack and game over.

When the EFL issue a statement that includes the words 'possible sanctions' even before the players and officials have left the stadium it doesn't look good for Small Heath. I wonder how much of a hero that fan will still be to those who applauded him when the punishment is delivered?

What it will also do is affect any kind of leniency they might have had on the pending FFP violations. They just won't deserve it. It would be brilliant if the penalty was something like 15 points, massive fine, play behind closed doors and a transfer embargo.

They got away with throwing dart board darts and snooker balls at players.  They will get away with this.  Even without KB flashing her thighs.

Terrible attack, great result but someone needs to have a word with Jack about whatever's going on with his facial hair :)

Bluenose Pete on WM saying that fan hasn't brought shame on the club , started going on about terrorists !! Me neither.

Then belly aching about Hause not being sent off .

They can't spin this one into a moral victory , surely.

We all know they will.  The fan who assaulted Jack will not representative of the true, honest working class Blues fans, they should have had a penalty and Gardner should have scored at the end to win it.  All adds up to yet another moral victory for them.

We don't always cover ourselves in glory it has to be said, now that Alfie Perkins is having his address plastered all over the internet and it's being reposted by a number of Villa fan pages. He deserves to have his collar felt for his disgusting posts but it only takes one twat to take it further now.

Only just seen that, it absolutely beggars belief.
