Just wait and see what he's got to say, it probably is just an update. He's missed a load of football in his career, so the chances of him calling it a day unless he has to are remote.

Is that the wrong impression?

Hopefully.  For now everything is just speculation.  It's natural to fear the worst, but lets hope for the best.

He's got more than two years on his contract. I wouldn't be walking away from that.

Well, it's very stressful. And I'm kidding myself, as I would be devastated if he did quit football. I was trying to be unemotional , but that would be deeply sad news.

I think I need to respect this situation as it's tough one and for all community here, so for own mind going to distract myself till the revelation and tend to the animals.

I need to remember Deano's words of emotional control!
I feel guilty as I have been enjoying Villa and haven't thought much of Mings. But more and more, I think of him: I miss him.I always love hearing him speak too.

All the best to all for coping, as the anticipation is hurting, that's for sure, and making me worry.
I wish I could make other thoughts and comments, and reading others comments helps a bit, but I'm stuck with only one impression.

Signing off until the Mings announcement.

Why would he make an announcement about a forthcoming announcement he's about to make if it was retirement . You'd just come out and say it.

Reminds me of a "save the date".

I'm with Larry David, just send the fucking invite.

The same reason a prime minister will announce they are going to make an announcement. To get the press involved and more people aware an announcement is happening. It is the same concept of trailers to announce a trailer is dropping soon.

And one song dicated to Harry McGuire "If you can play for England so can I"

I've never thought to ask, but is it the same ACL he did when at Bournemouth?  It might be a second big tear in the same knee requires a longer rehab?

I suppose it's equally possible that having done it again the surgeons are warning him of the long-term problems he's causing himself by trying to get back to top premier league standard.  He signed a new contract in Feb, so it's not like retiring would have any significant financial penalty to him, I'm sure the insurance will pay out which means he'd be getting premier league wages for another two and half seasons, till he's 33.

If there is a chance he can play again at the top level, I'd be surprised if he decided to retire.  Having come into the professional game late, and having three major season ending injuries, he's actually only played two-hundred odd games, which is very low for a 30-year-old.  I'm sure there is a feeling of "unfinished business" with him.  He could well find himself playing Champions League football next season :-)

He's only 3 months into what's expected to be 9 months out, so I'd be surprised if there was anything really meaningful to report.

If he could funeral (figuratively speaking) Farage whilst in there that would be splendid.
