Absolutely shit luck, for him and for us. He's more than just a vital player for us - in many ways he's been the face of the club since he arrived, and his character and demeanour off the field have made me prouder then ever to be Villa.

Get well soon, big man!

Didn't this injury came about in a passage of play where an offside flag was being held back until the phase had ended, meaning that it was completely and utterly avoidable?

Yep. People have been saying it will happen and of course when it does, it's to us.

Had this happened to Virgil Van Dijk, not only would they have had the rules changed by now, Talksport would just be playing sombre music all day for a week.

Beyond gutted for him first and foremost and then obviously for us. He’s our leader and as others gave said epitomises every good about the club in the era since the owners took charge. The complete opposite in how he has carried himself at Villa compared to those like Richards, Lescott and the latter years Agbonlahor.

Torres is not going to have an easing in period and will have to be on it asap and Carlos is also going to gave to step.

Next few games now feel massive.

Good luck to the big man.

Does the wording on this sound worse than for Buendia? Or am I just imagining that.

So gutted to have this confirmed. A player who has already cemented his place in the Villa pantheon for me. Hopefully there are still more great stories to come.

Absolutely gutted for him, but I have no doubt he will come back stronger and fitter as ever, all the best for a speedy recovery Ty.

He's played a massive part in us going from mid-table in the Championship to European football, and now misses out on playing in Europe for us. Football can be a bit of a twat at tines.

I think his song needs a good singing on Sunday.

Bouncing back from the result should be motivation enough as we look forward to this weekend and the rest of the season. But these two massive injuries should spur us on even more so now. So when both he and Emi come back next season, they can both make their European football debuts in the CL not the conference. Hope we do that for them.
